Default Sixers to fire King

According to ESPN the Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that the Sixers are going to fire Billy King and replace him with Nets GM Ed Stefanski. I have two things to say to that: Thank God and what in the world took so long? Now maybe they will have someone in place who knows what the heck is going on and can actually draft some decent talent and not trade away what good young talent they do have for washed up veterans who have maybe two good years left in the league.

Good move by the Sixers. Hopefully king never gets a job again

Another positive is that the specter of Larry Brown taking over as the coach next year may be gone as well. The last thing they need is Brown coming back in and shipping off what little young talent they have for over-the-hill big veterans.

I agree about Brown; he's not a long-term solution at this point and Philly isn't going to seriously contend anytime soon with him as a stopgap. What's curious about this is the Nets allowed their GM to go to a divisional rival.

The Nets have Rod Thorn they don't really need a GM Marc.

During the season no less.

But I heard on the Cowherd show yesterday that Stefanski was the chief talent evaluator and Thorn leaned heavily on him for those evaluations.

Aside from that Denver trade, drafting Thaddeus Young 12th overall was probably his worst decision of all time.
