Default Indiana's Lewis is back...

Indiana QB Lewis reinstated after four-month suspension

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana quarterback Kellen Lewis was reinstated to the team Monday after being suspended for about four months.

The school never explained why Lewis was suspended in March, but coach Bill Lynch said his star player did what was necessary to return to the team.

"Kellen has worked very hard and reached all the benchmarks we set for him," Lynch said in a release. "He is committed to this football program and is excited to rejoin his teammates. We are happy to welcome him back."

Lewis, a junior, is the fifth Indiana quarterback to reach 5,000 career passing yards and the fourth player to collect 6,000 total yards. He joined Tim Tebow of Florida and Dan LeFevour of Central Michigan as the only quarterbacks in the nation to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 700 yards last season.

He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2007.

The Hoosiers begin fall camp on Aug. 4 and open the season Aug. 30 against Western Kentucky.

Absolutely huge for IU. With him they are a legit 8-9 win team. Without him they would struggle to make a bowl.

Shocker! Just in time for him to be eligible for summer camp in another month. My guess is he got his grades up to snuff after the first semester of summer school.

I don't know if they're a 9-win team, Buck. They lost James Hardy, who was the only receiver capable of making plays. The offensive line is also considerably inexperienced going into the season. Missing Ohio State and Michigan will help them out but they're still not going to hang with the likes of Wisconsin, Penn State, and Illinois. Those will be three losses and you have to figure Iowa, Michigan State, or Purdue on the road will get the best of them. 8-4 is realistic but I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling about them. 7-5 seems much more likely.

9 would be a stretch. I think 7-8 is reasonable. Their schedule is cake...esp. the early part.

I was watching their game with Purdue from last year on the BTN today and one of the guys I liked from IU in that game that is coming back is running back Marcus Thigpen. He ripped up Purdue and looked like he could really burn. He's now a Junior and if he has more games like the Purdue one this year, could be an impact player.
