I think the one thing that would concern me if I am a Rays fan is the fact that they have not played well at all on the road against perspective playoff teams and the Angels are the one team in the AL who have shown they can go on the road and win against teams with winning records.

Good point, that has been killing us all year. That's why we need the AL to win the AS game.

That and you need to hope that the Rays end up with the best overall record. The Angels are within 1/2 game of the Rays going into today.

Twins and White Sox both win again today. This sets up an interesting 2nd half. The Twins come out of the break against Texas at the Dome and then go to New York and Cleveland. They entertain the White Sox for 4 games in a couple of weeks. They are done playing in Chicago.

Yes, things have definitly turned upside down this year. Now the Indians are spoiling things for the playoff seeking (Devil) Rays and are the "MF'ing Indians". In the past it was "damn Tampa!"

Cleveland will be lucky to finish third in their division. Also we now know that C.C. Sabathia can pitch well in the NL. Good for him.

The Mets have won 10 games straight. Good for them. Carlos Delgado is getting closer to 500 career homeruns.

David Wright is hitting well. He has really developed into a good ballplayer.

Pitcher C.C. Sabathia has really beeen hot since moving to the Milwaukee Brewers. Good for him. He's earning his pay. But even with Sabathia on the team they won't win their division.

Well, unless they go on a big winning streak here very soon, it looks like this might be the year that the Braves are sellers in the trade market. All the outfielders are overpriced (Nady, Bay) that could help the team. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that they'll get as much value as they should for Teixeira if they do trade him.

The Twins got a good performance from Livan Hernandez last night, winning 14-2 over the Rangers. They have come out of the break not missing a beat. If the pitchers do as well as they have been lately (and Hernandez builds on this performance), there will be no room for Fransisco Liriano at the major league level this season, although he would upgrade their pitching quite a bit if he were to accept a spot in the bullpen. That would give the Twins 3 lefties there, which may be too many. Interesting problem to have -- too much pitching.
Just for the record, they are half a game out right now.
And Brandon, its nice to see you around again.

Twins and White Sox both lose today. Twins still .5 games out heading to New York and Cleveland. Chicago hosts Texas.
Can anyone believe K'Rod? 40 saves already -- incredible performance. Angels win the season series with the Red Sox 5-1.

So the Rays take 2 of 3 from the Jays and what does Sports Center wrap the highlights with??? Tampa has now lost 8 of their last 10. Not the Rays bounce back from a 7 game skid or something like that.

Thanks catman.

I'm pulling for K-Rod to break Thigpen's record. It seems like this is a record made for modern play to break with the era of specialized relievers, ignoring the fact they only go an inning 95% of the time. Whether its been Smoltz, Gagne, or Hoffman, nobody's been able to do it. There's too many variables out of the pitcher's control, it's just as much luck as skill that someone can break the record. But K-Rod has such a headstart, he's got the best shot since Thigpen.
