The Twins and White Sox are in a "dog-fight" for the AL Central. Both teams have suffered injuries that would shut lesser teams down. The next starter for the White Sox could be a kid that my sister taught in grade school. Lance Broadway is his name and he's pretty decent. He's also a very good kid, from what my sister says.

Thank you to the W. Sox for beating the R. Sox. The Rays now own a 4.5 game lead in the East.

Dunn to the D-Backs. Great move by the D-Backs.

Bill Bavasi strikes again! I'm sure Arizona will love those two draft picks.

Dunn could give the D'Backs what they need to keep the Dodgers in 2nd place. They had to do something to counter the Dodgers' acquisition of Manny.

I don't know, it is not as though the Reds were scoring a ton of runs with Dunn in their lineup to begin with. He is going to a similar situation in Arizona in terms of what they have to put around him. He is also in the middle of a horrid slump right now hitting just .139 for August. It is almost as though he gave up after he found out he was still in Cincy after July 31. If they get the Dunn who hit .310 with 12 homers in July then great move but if they get the Dunn who hit .161 with 6 homers in June then not so good. Dunn has never been terribly consistent so it could go either way for the D-Backs and I don't believe he has ever played a significant game in the month of September during his entire career in Cincy so it remains to be seen how well he handles that whole atmosphere.

The Dodgers still hold the edge because a motivated and healthy Manny is as good as there is in baseball and we already know he can deliver in the postseason. That is not even to mention nabbing Casey Blake who has given the offense a bit of a boost and has playoff experience as well.

It is also going to be interesting to see how the Rays fare now that both Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria are on the DL.

A healthy Baldelli replaces Crawford pretty well and Iwamura goes back to 3B possibly. Brignac can come in and play 2B for the Rays for a while (or possibly 3B). The Rays have to hope that their "mojo" isn't messed up too much with these changes.

Longo has a non-displace broken finger. God, I hope he's not out longer then 15 days.

Watching the Rays/A's game and let me tell you guys Carlos Gonzalez is the real deal. Hit a 2 run digger in the 1st and then just about threw Aybar out at the plate from middle CF.

Finally a somewhat bright spot for the Braves season, Mark Kotsay hits for the cycle. And of course this was one of the few games I've missed lately on TV.

It's been a rough year for the Bravo's this year. Chipper is back now isn't he?

Yeah, when Braves traded Tex I kind of got the feeling that was them throwing in the towel - well at least making it official.

I'm really looking forward to the final stretch in September... Rays / BoSox should be duking it out! What a fun year of MLB it's been huh?

Who would have thought that the Rays would be playing meaningful games this late in the season, much less leading the division?

Chipper is back, he's stayed healthier than I thought he would this year. We'll see if the nagging stuff knocks his average down from .370, it's been a while since somebody's hit that high.
