I'm afraid Louisville won't be in the top 10 long, since QB Brohm is out for a few weeks. Hope I am wrong.

It's nice to see LSU gets special recognition, twice!

I believe that extra mention is for destro, so his Tigers don't go unnoticed this week.

And, while my favorite conference the Big XII may be filled with nothing but mediocre teams, at least after this weekend I will have the built in excuse that the Big XII teams have suffered early on this season from playing some of the best teams in the country in their non-conference schedule (Ohio State vs. Texas, USC vs. Nebraska, Louisville vs. Kansas State, Georgia vs. Colorado, Oklahoma vs. Oregon, Iowa vs. Iowa State).

Ohio State is #1 by a slim margin Mike? Kinda ironic considering they only qualify as a team by a slim margin.

Conf. breakdown...

SEC: 3 ( #2, #6, and #8)
Big Ten: 2 (#1 and #5)
Pac Ten: 2 (#3 and #9)
Big East: 2 (#4 and #7)
Big Twelve: 1 (#9)
ACC: 0

Interesting...

Some of the SEC teams will disappear when they play each other I believe Georgia and Florida also play Auburn as well as each other but I might be wrong on that. Mich and OSU see each other in the last game, Oregon and USC should play each other as will WVU and Louisville. This top 10 is going to look very different in November I think.

True.

It will be interesting to see if any conference can get 3 teams in the final poll.

It will also be interesting to see if the ACC and Big Twelve get any more than 1 team in the final poll...if that.

Long way to go.

UGA and Florida both play Florida, as well as the Cocktail Party. I hate to say it, but I don't see ans SEC team making out of the conference unscathed. Won't happen.

They don't play anyone of significance until WVU in November and Brohm should be back by then. They should probably be able to beat Kansas St., Middle Tennessee, Cincy, and the 'Cuse with what they have left.

Oh I don't know about anyone down South goin' undefeated. All I'm saying is it will be interesting who finishes where. You can lose 2 or 3 games in the SEC and make it in the top 10 in the national media.

You mean like how Notre Dame didn't win any signicant games last year, and still managed to start the season at #2? Or how they are still at #12 despite the drubbing that was handed to them Saturday?

A lot of sportswriters (and coaches) are Catholic.

Seriously, I use to have a vote when I was a writer and there are a ton of sportswriters who vote with their heart instead of their head, and many of the coaches don't even mess with it and give it to their sports information director to vote and most of them are former sportswriters.
