Default Daunte Culpepper crashing into the NFL record books..

With one game left, Culpepper has passed for 4,418 yards, which is already 12TH BEST IN NFL HISTORY and puts him on pace for 4,712 yards. That would be
the SEVENTH BEST TOTAL IN NFL HISTORY.

Culpepper has 37 TD passes, which is THE SEVENTH BEST IN NFL HISTORY, behind only Manning this year, Kurt Warner in 1999 and Brett Favre twice in the mid-1990s.

And Culpepper has completed 69.8 percent of his passes, which if he maintains it would be FIFTH BEST IN NFL HISTORY, behind only Kenny Anderson in 1982, Sammy Baugh in 1945 and Steve Young and Joe Montana once each.

NO QB IN NFL HISTORY has ever thrown for as many yards with as many touchdowns in the same season as Culpepper.
Including Manning.

NO QB IN NFL HISTORY has thrown for as many yards with such a high completion percentage.
Including Manning.

If Culpepper continues at his current pace in the Vikings' final game, at Washington -- and throws fewer than five interceptions -- he will finish the season with the fewest interceptions among any quarterback in history to
throw for more than 4,700 yards.

Right now, the fewest INTs by a quarterback with 4,700 yards is 17, shared by Dan Fouts in 1981 and Marino in 1984. Culpepper has only 11, so he should
annihilate that record.

Culpepper takes a passer rating of 110.1 into the Redskins game. Only three quarterbacks in NFL history have finished a season with a higher rating -- Milt Plum of the Browns (110.4 in 1960), Montana (112.4 in 1989) and Young
(112.8 in 1991). Manning is currently at 123.9 and Baugh compiled a 109.9 mark in 1945, so at worst Culpepper will finish with the sixth-best passer
rating in NFL history.

And yet, here we are....8-7....underachieving again. It's time for somebody other than #11 to step up and earn a paycheck this season.

I've felt bad for Culpepper for awhile seein' that if it wasn't for him (for the most part), the Vikings would be battlin' it out with Chicago & Detroit.

It's a shame to see an athlete spending his prime years on a merry-go-round team like the Vikes.

I can only assume that what you mean is with Dante's 37 TDs or whatever it is, he's got the most yards when throwing that total of TDs. And yes, they are nice numbers.
But as long as you want to compare him to Manning....Manning has more TDs, more passing yards, fewer interceptions, and a much higher passer rating.
Dante is having a nice little year though...

Nice how you take two small blurps about Manning to make this into a "vs" thread.

It seems to be a pattern; this is how it gets started

Why not say including Dan Fouts?

You just had to bring Manning into it so just like many posts before this one..... Manning Vs. who is next? Brees?

YOU'RE the one that originally compared him to Manning. You threw in "including Manning" following 2 on your main points. You were obviously comparing him to the best QB this year for a reason?

They were up like 24-8 or 27-9 at one point.

Congrats to Peyton. How anybody can not like this guy is beyond me. Class personafied and the best QB of our generation right now.

And those are your own words, FSUViking. I think you're obviously the one that's comparing the two QBs when you post that, and then use "including Manning" to emphasize your Culpepper points.

Well, you'll notice the names of Joe Montana...Sammy Baugh...and several others mentioned throughout the post.

OK...so before you **** yourself with rage, realize that Manning's name was far from the only one brought up, OK?

And your really talking out of your ass too. Exactly how many Manning posts have I started?

Your getting awfully defensive and wound up over nothing.

Let me clue you into something. It's called putting his accomplishments into perspective. Manning is the measuring stick for QB's today. Kinda makes a shred of sense that you'd compare the numbers of the two best statistical QB's in football in 2004, right?

Wouldn't make much sense to throw some Joey Harrington figures or AJ Feely stats in this conversation, would it?

What in the hell are you even talking about? Seriously...you are confusing the hell out of me. Your making nO sense at all.

I complement Manning, and it's turned around AGAINST me in another thread? You two need to seriously get a grip. You starting World War III over what?

Because somebody had the nerve to compare another quarterback to Peyton Manning? Because somebody actually may BEAT Peyton in some category?

Good lord.....

I realize that it's only rational to compare Dante to the highest measuring stick...if the statistics were evern RELATIVELY close. The only stat that meets that criteria is passing yards. That, I can agree apon. Am I defensive? Hardly. I'm not the one using "****" language in my posts. My only point is that Manning's numbers are so WAY ove Dante's, that such a comparison is completely without merit. Why not throw in Harringotn, as well? That's about as ridiculous as comparing ANY QB to Manning this year.
And as far as the WWIII comment is concerned...perhaps this thread (or at least our replies to one another) is getting a little heated. Consider this my last post on the topic.
