Default College game day crew ..........it figures!

It was announced today, although it should not come as a shock, the college game day crew, WILL NOT be at the ND/USC game..............you have tobe kidding me!

They can show up at Harvard/PENN, but not go to one of the great rivalries in any sport, amongst 2 of the truly great traditions in college football, while both teams are once again top flite programs.

If this isnt a true game day game, there isnt one!

Knowwhere, they decided to do it from Bristol this week.

Apparently since the FSU/Florida game is no longer big enough they chose to go knowwhere.

These guys are unbelieveable.

That's strange, USC/ND is the biggest game this week...figured they'd go there.

BTW, It's Nowhere...not knowwhere!

Thank you for the english lessen Bucknut.

Its really not strange though, the game day crew does not go to the Pac 10 schools. If this game had been played in South Bend, they probably would have gone. But the Crew does not like the Pac 10, so they avoid it at all costs.

Speaking of costs, maybe they just think it's too far and costly?

Yeah, I don't understand how you can go to Harvard-Penn but not USC-Notre Dame. They are 2 top ten teams.

I'm shocked at that. ND/USC is one of the biggest games of the year. Great rivalry and always has been.

Yeah ESPN does not broadcast Pac-Ten games so that's probably why. Even if they're not showing it on ESPN.

Marc, could it have been any more costly then attending ND/Air Force earlier this year.............a game that was played at Air Force, I dont think so. Lets be realistic, ESPN is not hurting in any way for money.

The bigger issue probably dates back to the contentious negotiations of several years ago between the Pac 10 and ESPN . Before ESPN and ABC became affiliates in televising College football games, the Pac 10 and ESPN went round and round in regards to a TV package. If you havent noticed, there are no Pac 10 games on ESPN. Occasionally they will play a intersectional game, like Arizona @ Wisconsin earlier this year, on ESPN, but other then that, they dont get on ESPN.

I think that plays a big part in why ESPN College Game day gives very little coverage at all to Pac 10 football. I'm quite sure the suits high up at ESPN have let there people know, 'screw the Pac 10, they wouldnt agree to what we offered them, they can go to hell.'

In regards to who decides where the Game Day crew goes, dont think for a second that Chris, Kirk and Lee dont have a say in these things. They also, at least once each season, let the fans vote the week before in an ESPN poll, on what game the Crew should attend the following week.

Its not about money, there definitely some isues between the Pac 10 and ESPN. I will say this also, I dont know what the numbers were that ESPN wanted years ago from the Pac 10, but I think they should have paid whatever the price. ESPN is a great recruiting tool.
