Default The Movie Thread

We need an active thread to discuss the newest movies. Who has seen "Dark Night?" I was supposed to see it Friday, but couldn't. I hope to see it this week. I hear it's amazing, so don't ruin it for me.

I just saw "Shutter," a horror film with Joshua Jackson (Pacey from Dawson's Creek), which was pretty decent and at least kept my interest.

We are probably going to see Dark Knight next weekend. We just did not feel like fighting crowds and long lines that were out this weekend.

The last movie we went to go see was Kung Fu Panda which was cute.

I am stoked about "Step Brothers." Will Ferrell was hilarious on the ESPY's accepting Tiger Woods' award.

I am looking forward to the new Seth Rogen flick "Pineapple Express" and Ben Stiller's "Tropic Thunder" moreso than "Step Brothers".

The Dark Knight was amazing. Even if you don't really like Batman, go see it.

Agreed.

That movie is going to be one of those movies that I make my kids watch one day.

Heath Ledger's performance was among the best in film. It was so crazy to be laughing during the movie only to realize that the Joker is killing people.

Maybe on DVD. I just can't get into it because the actors look nothing like the real people they're portraying. It just seems confusing. But I'll be comforted when Obama's in office and Bush is nothing more than an ex-President.

Word. My lady friend and I were cracking up at the Joker. All in all, I was surprisingly letdown, but still give it 4.5/5 stars. Enjoyed it.

That's what I think made Ledger's performance so good. You're sitting there laughing at him and then you stop and think for a second and you're, like, he's blowing up a hospital...why am I laughing?

I can't wait to see it. I've only heard one negative review from everyone I've talked to. Pretty good ratio

I don't know if you guys are familiar with Rotten Tomatoes or not. For those who do not know it is a movie site that compiles movie reviews from mainstream critics. Anyway out of 246 reviews collected by the site 232 were positive while only 14 were negative which means 94% of the reviews were positive for the movie. WALL-E is the only scripted mainstream release to receive better reviews thus far this year.

It is also the top rated movie of all time on the IMDB user's poll.

That's pretty incredible doub. I plan to see it this weekend.

Well Burgh, I just watched the movie I was telling you about in the "20,001..." thread titled Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride, documentary about Hunter S. Thompson.

Pretty good, kind of boring. The guy was a fascinating human, but the movie didn't match his intensity.

The cool part was the interviews with the famous people who were his friends - Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, George McGovern, John Kusack, and various writers.

It was interesting to see how important he was to these people.

But unless you are very interested in Thompson, I wouldn't recommend the movie.

There's a new movie out titled, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, which looks better. I'd go for that one.

Well, thanks for the review, Fresh. Maybe I'll check it out if I'm bored one night.

Other movies...anybody see Across the Universe? The new one that came out last fall. I liked it.
