Default Best 80's Pop Band, Metal Band and 1 hit wonder

Ok, maybe I am showing my age but

Duran Duran was my early favorite Pop

You can put bands like Poison here as well but mine is:
Metallica from Ride the Lightning to And Justice for All

1 hit wonder is a hard one.
I can't pick just one but

Betty Davis eyes is something I can listen too over and over

Best 80's Pop Band: Duran Duran. No other band defines the decade like they do.

Best 80's Metal Band: Iron Maiden. UP THE IRONS!!

Best 80's 1 hit wonder: Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen (1983)

Another vote for Duran Duran....considering a style than in retrospect seem lame, they made outstanding music.

I didn't get into metal so much....but when I think "80's metal," I first think of amusing second-stagers, like Dokken and Europe.

And without a doubt, the best 80's wonder is indeed Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen. Good call Heathen. An Irish band I like more than U2.

Oh my goodness, I still love 80s music (look at my posts in "What are you listening to?"). I could prattle on about my favs... but alas.

Pop - Go Gos.

Metal - Not big on metal... lol. Umm, does Bon Jovi count lol? If not, than Def Leppard. If Def Leppard doesn't count, than Poison just because Brett Michaels had sex with Pam Anderson.

One-hit - My oh my. I'll go with Aha.

"Taaaaaaaaaaaake ooooooooooooooon Meeeeeeeeeeeeee! Take! On! Me!"

Bon Jovi counts. Any of those bands.....

80's music is 98% of the music I listen to. I either have a CD of MIX 80's music going in the car or the radio is on 102.9 the Point 80's. If you count Sport Talk Radio I would have to drop it down to around 75%, Jim Rome is the man!

Does anyone remember a song around 1987 or 88 around the sametime Blue Monday came out by New Order.

The song was something about or like this

"It's just another Holiday". A guy sang it but I can't remember the name of it or who sang it.

Or

this song

Female: kind of slow and all I can remember is

Cry, break down and cry.

Not much help I know but maybe someone knows

I like '60s and '70s classic rock, and a lot of '90s music, but one decade I don't like is the '80s. At least in comparison. But I do like a couple if I had to pick: Bon Jovi is decent, and how about Dire Straits and Foreigner?

Dire Straits are amazing.... Mark Knopfler is from my home town (so is Ridley Scott and AC/DC's Brian Johnson)

Pop band: Duran Duran. Definitely Duran Duran. I just wish that these guys would just shove off, now, though.

Metal: Can we count Spinal Tap? Please?? Failing that, I'll go with Bon Jovi, since it was allowed. Oh, my brothers' fave was Ratt. I like them too. They wrote like three pieces of music and came up with ten sets of lyrics to it. Awesome!

1-Hit Wonders: I know Simple Minds had a following in other places, but did they have an American hit that was even remotely in the same ball park as "Don't You (Forget About Me?)" from the Breakfast Club?
I didn't think so.
At the end of the decade, I'm pretty sure that's my favorite song of the entire ten years, with "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor a distant second.

Dave
