Yeah, I'm high on South Carolina right now...for what I know of such matters.

I think if they give LSU a good game this Saturday I may leave 'em right where I got 'em or even move 'em up.

Well...only if the game is at LSU.

Losing at home: :tsk:
So easy to forget Auburn. lol. They are dead last.

Yeah, Gamecocks are in Baton Rouge. You don't just get beat there, you get beat down.

If they win...I'll put 'em #2 in the nation and #1 in the SEC.

A close loss will probably show no movement.

When the hell did I start rankin' SEC teams?

Quick Mike...do a Big Ten list.

Hell, I don't even wanna touch that.

Lessee. Big Ten....

1. Ohio State- Big win this week vaults them over #2
2. Penn State- so far this season, Points for: 135 Points against: 34. Yowza
3. Michigan State- Close win vs Pitt, but they would have choked that game last season.
4. Wisconsin- As 78 noted, just too many struggles to rank them higher.
5. Purdue- They can score points. Can they do it on the road vs conference foes?
6. Indiana- Almost ranked them higher. Beat a decent Akron team this past weekend.
7. Illinois- Almost came back to pull a big win over Mizzou
8. Iowa- Can't lose to Iowa State. You just can't.
9. Michigan- Looked good vs Notre Dame. The again, everyone else has as well.
10. Northwestern- Lost to Duke. Duke, who is worse than App State
11. Minnesota. What the? Losing to FAU? And Miami (OH?) Sheesh.

So how did I do coach?

(shrugs shoulders)

Guess it looks good.

I suppose Ohio State has to be #1 for being the only team to win a big road game...especially since it was at Washington.

Michigan State needs QB production out of Hoyer. Their D and play-calling are really good...but that's a given with Dantonio. Their rushing attack is underachieving if you ask me.

Purdue's D is still a question...as is always the case.

Illinois played well but it was against Cuse. I think Juice's eye injury is finally healed up. They host PSU in two weeks. Look out.

Iowa's QB Christensen is just plain bad. Their D is pretty solid but their O is horrible...last in the conference.

Michigan will be back to respectability by the end of the year.

NW isn't progressing as I had hoped.

Startin' to think Minny made the wrong choice in Brewster.

Indiana can really run the ball...1st in the league. QB Kellen Lewis is quite the dual threat.

lol. Got my top 4, then had to run and actually do a little research. I had no idea Indiana was undefeated.

Don't be fooled Mike. This is the role reversal year...as I've been saying. The Big Ten's non-conf schedule was a joke in 2007 (each team has 1 game left out of conference against a cupcake). Usually it is the SEC that is untested.

Since we actually lost and struggled and some/decent amount of these games...the conference as a whole seems to be lagging behind.

I think that is really why a lot of power teams struggle at the start of conference play. Seen it too many times the past several years. They play these weak sisters, and they don't know what to expect when a real team from in-conference comes calling. It's one of the reasons UGA/South Carolina is always an ugly game.

Yeah...playing that game in Week #2 hurts your teams and conference Mike.

I'm fine with how we do it.

11 teams

3 non-conf games first 3 weeks...

and then 5 conf games each week with 1 team playing their final non-conf game

Again though...that's designed to highlight the importance of league play which is our primary goal in the Big Ten. The Pac Ten does that too. The only reason why UCLA had to play Stanford in week #1 was cuz ND (indep with no conf. makin' the schedule) play the Bruins in Octoberish.

I hate playing South Carolina week 2, then playing someone like Troy late in the season.

On the plus side, at least I get to gloat about beating one of mush's teams. (I just guaranteed a loss)

For the opposing team to win at LSU at night is tough and spooky.

Man, every college football fan in the country knows the SEC is far and away the best conference. That's why they are always comparing their conference to the SEC or trying to take us down a notch with some meaningless stat. We don't need to crow...when you post a statement like that it lowers us to their level, like it's up for debate. There is no grounds for comparison and the subject should never be brought up by a fan of an SEC school.

LSU/South Carolina was originally supposed to be ESPN's night game, and UGA/Bama was supposed to be the 3:30 game on CBS. Somehow, the games got switched around, and noe South Carolina gets lucky and gets LSU during the day, and UGA has to go inot Tuscaloosa for the dreaded night game.

Dammit.

I'm pulling for UGA tonight, because I think 'Bama got WAAAY too much respect from pollsters for beating Arkansas last week.
In fact, even if 'Bama wins, i think they should drop in the Top 25, because Arkansas blew a game it looked like they should have won, from what I saw.
Also, perhaps Woodson is overrated? I didn't see ANYTHING from him that I don't see in about ten other QBs in college right now. But, I didn't watch the whole game, either. (Gimme White--I'm a homer, Brohm, Booty, Dixon, Mallett/Henne--neither of which I actually like, Ryan, Longshore, Tebow, McCoy, and Brennan ahead of Woodson.)
