Default Randy Moss back in trouble

Color me surprised. Will this have any effect on the game?

Accuser fires back at Moss after receiver's comments

ESPN.com news services
Updated: January 17, 2008, 5:15 PM ET

Portrayed by Randy Moss as a woman making a money grab against him, Rachelle Washington came out on the defensive Thursday.

A statement from her attorney, David McGill, says "she refuses to be further disrespected by him."

"Ms. Washington has been unfairly characterized as someone simply seeking financial gain. In fact, it was Mr. Moss' representatives who first contacted our office to offer a 'six figure' settlement with hopes of not having this incident become public record," the statement reads.

A temporary restraining order was issued Monday requiring the star wide receiver to stay at least 500 feet from Washington who alleged he committed "battery causing serious injury" to her at her Florida home on Jan. 6.

The NFL says it has its own independent investigators.

Well they better sick those gumshoes on this woman, with particular emphasis on any sudden large credits in any financial accounts she might have.

Because if this doesn't veritably scream "betting coup," then I don't know what does.

He already acknowledged wrongdoing, and now he's backtracking, saying that as an athlete, he's targeted.

There's no betting coup. Randy Moss is just a d-bag loser.

If this was a few years back when Moss was constantly acting like an immature punk, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe this. However, he's shown that he's been maturing on & off the field for some time & I'll personally wait for all the facts. Just a comment of admitting he was at fault for an 'accident' doesn't preclude it from being just that & now being used for a big payday as tho it wasn't...

I'm frankly not sure what to think of this one. I remember Moss' antics in Minnesota and think this could be possible, but then again, it could be an excuse for this lady to try to "hold him up". The "he said/she said" is a bit annoying. It is possible that the lady's attorney came to Moss' people with the demand for a huge payoff and if that is the case, the entire thing will blow up in her face. If that was the case, I'm glad that Moss didn't pay her off.

Since it's routine to try things in the press instead of waiting for the trial :

She said, he said, she said, & now back to he said...
