Are we going to even have any competitive bowl games this year? So far both games have been blow outs.

The New Mexico-SJSU game started like every other bowl, but it was interesting by the end. Not much of a surprise, Dick Tomey went into "play not to lose" mode as he did so many times at Arizona.

Impressive turnaround for Tomey and SJSU this year. The program was on the verge of moving to 1-AA or being dropped altogether and now is suddenly in a position to ascend towards the top of the WAC.

Tomey has turned out to be one of the better hires from the past year. The man has had success everywhere he has been.

Tomey can definitely recruit and coach. He had a nasty habit back in his Arizona days of running a wide open offense and building a big lead, then nearly squandering it due to conservative playcalling.

Still, as he's proven by matching the three previous season win totals in just this one season, he's a good coach. I was wishing for UA to reconsider during those dark, dark Mackovic seasons.

Did you hear what they said about how embarrassing it was in San Jose? They said during the game that the program was so bad that the players would walk around with their football sweats on inside out because folks around campus always told them how pathetic the team was.

Did my man Koetter throw the Hawaii Bowl? Down by 2 scores with 3ish minutes left and he punts?

Twistin' the dagger as he leaves town?

I wonder where you got this attitude from mush?

CMU is a pretty strong team. Their 4 losses...

B.C. by 7 on opening night
AT Michigan by 24
AT Kentucky by 9
AT Northern Illinois by 21

Not bad for a MAC school.

We'll take 'em mush.

Civil War part deux.

I know I am late to the party, but I have been impressed by USF this season, and they looked good against East Carolina. Their freshman QB can pass accurately and was their leading rusher this year. They have a good defense and a head coach who isn't leaving to go coach a bigger school, even though he has had several offers. They may be in a BCS bowl in a couple of years. (yeah, I said it. )

Hey Mike, how about this little bit of info about the "State of the Union" in the state of Florida football race:

By BRETT McMURPHY The Tampa Tribune

Published: Dec 23, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - As significant as the University of South Florida's second consecutive bowl berth was this season, the Bulls accomplished something even more impressive.

Just check out the BCS rankings:

No. 2 Florida

No. 40 USF

No. 52 Florida State

No. 62 Miami

Nice. I am hoping USF makes it into the top 25 after the bowls. (I have an interest, okay? They are my football dynasty on NCAA 07 for my playstation 2. )

I think FSU is going to continue to struggle, but Miami, as much as I hate to say it..... They have a strong defense, if they can get the offense going, they will be the ACC champs sooner rather than later.

My sister is getting her master's degree at USF. Traitor.

They've done pretty well in the Big East. I remember when the conference was interested in adding Marshall after all the changes went down and then decided on USF. I was pretty surprised. Looks like they made the right choice.

FSU and UCLA from Frisco tonight.

I wonder who I'll be rootin' for in this one?

First bowl game with two teams that are known on the national stage. I'm expectin' defense and a physical contest. Should be fun.
