Default Lakers imploding before our eyes

After the Wolves punked the Lakers last night, handing them their 7th loss in 11 games , Gary Payton went off on the media saying "I didn't sign up for this bull*****. All this crap. Everything. You know what i'm talking about."

This comes a week or so after he went to the media complaining on his paying time, shot allotment, and how he's being used.

I'm not ready to write off the Lakers yet, I'm not that stupid, but it appears two things are true.

1. The Bulls record is more than safe.

2. Despite their Hall of Fame roster, the Lakers are gonna have to REALLY get thier ***** together to beat Sacto, San Antone, and Minny this year.

Don't worry about Payton, he's been known to have a big mouth all of his career. I hope this streak keeps up. Then my Mavs have a chance for the playoffs. In all seriousness, when Shaq and Malone are healthy expect a ressurected Laker team.

It's great to see the Lakers fall apart and their star players whine. It's too bad it won't last forever.

That's right, Alex, it won't last forever because the only reason the Lakers are struggling is Malone and Shaq are out and that leaves Kobe and Payton battling for shots. If this team is healthy and bickering and losing (they got blown out by Denver last night), THEN we can have this discussion.

Lakers imploding is always a good discussion piece.....especially when people were saying before the season that they should be "handed" the title. Hopefully their losing continues....

Its always imploding during the season. The real deal comes in the playoffs. Those guys aren't sitting in the playoffs unless they are on their death bed.

We'll see. I don't think they'll stay this way for the rest of the season. Phil Jackson is too good a coach to let that happen. The Lakers will be seeded high in the playoffs, in the first three spots. If they don't make the Finals, they'll come close.

I think i remember saying there was gunna be problems with team chemistry during the season. It's happening. It clearly shows that gary Payton doesn't want too be on the Lakers. He chose that team for a chance to win a championship, now he's complaining. I know it won't last but i'm tellin some of you Laker fans. Enjoy all this winning while you all can because Jerry Buss hasn't been smart enough to sign some young, TALENTED players i see a nice starter in Slava medvedenko and Brian Cook is starting look look god even though most of his production is during garbage time. I so wish the Lakers play Luke Walton more. He's a very smart player that has radar vision. One of the best passers i've seen. Unless the Lakers sign some young, talented players and let them have their MINUTES Lakers might not end up a lottery team in 2-3 years. Because if there is a chance that Kobe moves to a different team like the Suns, Knicks, Clippers, Grizzlies, etc, that's one of the best players lost, we all know that Shaq won't play past 35. If you don't agree with me, go ask his brittle calf and toe. Malone is gunna be retired by then. Payton might be retired. I'm not sure. He looks like he has 5 years left in him. Even if Kobe doesn't move on to a different team, i still see the Lakers a lottery team untill Jerry Buss signs some young talent.

I think the Lakers are safe. Phil Jackson is the reason for that. Karl Malone might have another season after this one, though it's debatable. Payton still has at least 2; Shaq still has at least 3 but more like 4 or 5. Kobe probably won't move, and that will leave those four for another season. By then the Lakers will probably have moved some of their players in exchange for younger guys. As for the minutes, why play Brian Cook if you can play Malone, for example?

I think the odds are 80-20 that Kobe leaves L.A.

The Lakers will be strong when Shaq and Malone are healthy.

I seriously doubt G.P. and Malone return next year, especially if the Lakers win the championship...

^^^The Glove is signed on for more than just one year...I think he wants to finish his career there...possibly 2-3 seasons.

The Lakers have been notorious for regular season blunders, such as '00-'01 and last season, but they've always bounced back. Once healthy, it could again be a no contest. Until then, it's gonna be a shaky ride.

I'm cringing on Friday's game... facing the Kings without Shaq, Malone, or Kobe....
let's just say that's not going to be pretty...

Oh whatever. Its just a game. Its not like we are in the playoffs right now and this is a do or die game. Sacremento wins this game. Great. But it means they can beat a team with not Shaq, Kobe, and Malone. So can most teams.
