Default If you could play in the majors....

If you could play in Major League Baseball, what position would you play?

I don't know why, but I have always been attracted to center field since.... well... since a long time ago!.... Something about running around and leaping over the fence or diving for an awesome catch seems more fun to me than any other position... so I would say either centerfield or else shortstop.

Unfortunately, I'll never be in Major League Baseball, so I won't have the "crisis" of choosing if I wanna play either center or short!

What about everyone else?

I would say Shortstop. I get some good range, solid arm, great D... plus I can hit. I am kinda like Derek Jeter! hehe

Many years ago, when I could still run, I played CF in college. I enjoyed it and was told that I could play with the best, defensively. Unfortunately, I never could hit (no bat speed). Soon after my first year in college ball, I ruined my knees and no longer could run. I was moved to 1B and played well defensively, but still couldn't hit, so I was not considered a candidate for the varsity team. My baseball career was over .
I did enjoy playing CF. The balls in the gaps were the most challenging. Taking the correct angle to the ball was sometimes difficult and is not something that can be easily learned.

I'd be pitcher. I've always wanted to be a pitcher, so I can shut down the big bats. However, I almost never play it.

I played left field in high school. I was pretty good, but I couldn't hit a darn curve ball. So much for my baseball career.

I'd like to play centerfield, too. *gasp* It'd be pretty cool being there, out in the open, and being able to catch long hits.

I would be a pitcher. When I played little league I was one of the better pitchers in the league. Mainly because I was very accurate and most people couldn't hit well. And I struck out a lot of people.

1st Base...

It's been my position since Little League. I played varsity 1B all four years of High School and had a pretty good "career". My defense is decent and my offense is very good, I think.

Unfortunatley, I won't have a "college career" because I don't plan on going. I do plan on trying out for the Yawkey League and maybe even going to a few Red Sox tryouts next spring.

Pitcher, thats what I play and I have a killer splitter. My change isn't too bad either.

By all means, attempt to continue playing. Go to as many try-out camps as you can and don't settle for just one team. Scouts look at different people differently and if one doesn't think you have the ability to make it, another might. All of the teams should have camps in New England and you should be able to attend most of them. They schedule them in different weeks to allow the kids to get to all of them.
Good luck and keep us posted here.

I don't know, 3rd base seems to be my position, however I was always in the outfield. I've always like third base and making the long throw across the diamond to gun out the runner.

I did play third base once. But that was because the 3rd baseman was in the bathroom and I was on the bench for that game (everybody got a chance to play) and he didn't make it back in time. It was great being in the infield so close to the plays.

I think I could pitch too though. I've got a decent splitter and a little knuckler I mess around with for fun. Never given the opportunity though.

Yeah, sure, I'll definatley keep you posted. With no school, I'll have plenty of time to work on things and be fully prepared for all the tryouts.

I would love to be the team's pinch runner. (Ironic as this is the name, of my E-sports article title.) I would just like to hang around in the clubhouse and fool around, then go into a game now and then to run around the bases. Plus, you would make good money and be on a baseball team to do next to nothing. It would be fun I think.

Id like to be a pitcher. Imagine trying to strike out Sosa and McGwire, thats better than catching flyballs. I believe the most pressure is put on the pitcher, and the feeling of having the game on your shoulders is incredible. You cant stop my knuckler.
