Default Happy Mattress Day (September 30)!

People of all ages:

I come to you today to wish you a happy Mattress Day! How many times do you wake in the morning and say thank you to your mattress? That's right! None! Your mattress is a great thing and you should not take it for granted.

Stan Mattress is the man who invented the mattress back in 1850 - or something like that - before then, people had to sleep on hay and uncomfortable stuff. With Stan's invention, humans finally had good night sleeps. It's truly amazing what Mr. Mattress did and we should thank him (as well as our mattress) for the great things he has done. Thank you Mr. Stan Mattress!

While today, September 30, is the unofficial Mattress Day, I have been calling my reprentatives in both the House and Senate to try and get September 30 to become the offical Mattress Day of the United States for the past 10 years. They haven't returned my calls, but wouldn't that be something if I was able to get this to be a national holiday?

I suggest you all do the same - calling your representatives - and together we can do this! We can fight the machine!

So, before your mom tucks you in to bed tonight, say "Thanks, mattress, for all the wonderful things you do."

Have a great day!

NOTE: This is not to be confused with Flip Your Mattress Day (May 15).

This isn't a joke. Jay has been calling our local representatives everyday this week. Believe it or not, Mattress Day is gaining popularity in our local area. It is really catching on. Our township is actually considering setting off fireworks next September 30th in order to help the new holiday gain momentum.

Jay has been receiving a lot of e-mails from people who want to know how to help get the holiday passed. If you, or anyone else would like to help, we ask that you do one of these three things:
1) Protest in front of the White House, which we plan to do next year.
2) Buy gifts for your friends and family.
3) Say thanks to your mattress. Don't forget the real reason behind this day of celebration. It is about your mattress & Stan Mattress.

I didn't mean to joke about something that's serious but when I read J's been contacting House & Senate Reps for 10 years...Since he's been what...6 or 7??

Plus I'm not sure if protesting at the White House next to the anti-war protesters will give you equal billing...

I would assume tho that the Mob will be behind this if you recall the saying from The Godfather...."Goin' to the mattress....

& I wasn't sucked into gift buying by the corporate holiday, Sweetest Day, so you can be assured no one's gettin' any gifts for Mattress Day.. from me.....(tho actually anytime it's mattress time, my wife already gets a present...)

Hmmmm.....How come I feel like my chain's being yanked???

Tark, given your Mr Sinister look, aren't you the one who is really getting the present?
