Default William Green the next Rashaan Salaam??

I liked Salaam at Colorado, but his leaning on marijuana limited his potential a great deal. Is William Green headed down the same road?

I like Green, too. He had a great second half of the season last year, but never really seemed to put it together this year. Likely to miss the remainder of the season, how long will the Browns stick by the side of this #1 pick before deciding the plug needs to be pulled...

Too bad there's no XFL for Green to go tear it up in to be a true Salaam replica.

Rashaan Salaam's career was haulted by injuries. Plus he was the first pick in the draft. Green's expectations aren't as high. Besdies, he still has the talent. He's just messing up huge in his life right now.

Between Green and Kevin Johnson, it's been a long season in Cleveland indeed - and since they let the latter go for nothing more than what amounts to not getting along with Butch Davis, I'd say the former's chances of remaining a Brown much longer are small to vanishing.

Who knows - maybe this is G-d's way of punishing Carmen Policy for all the salary-cap-cheating he's alleged to have done in San Francisco!

Actually Diceman, William Green was selected higher in the first round than was Salaam. Green was drafted #16 in 2002, and Salaam was drafted #21 in 1995. So, expectations were about the same.

Salaam won the heisman, had a pretty good rookie season, then down the tubes he went, and as the comparison is made here, it fits as of right now. Story to be continued...

Salaam had injuries, to be sure, but his proclivity for the "sticky icky" kept him on his duff when he should have been rehabbing. Just ask him sometime.

At the same time, he doesn't believe that his marijuana habit harmed his play. It harmed his fitness, but not his play. His attitude, not mine. He also doesn't use it anymore, but doesn't march against it, either.

Green, on the other hand, seems sort of completely clouded by the stuff, or other things that he uses marijuana to avoid. Either way, his career could be endangered by marijuana use the same way Salaam's was. That was my original point.
