Default Brett Favre injury report...

What's the latest on Brett Favre?

What it looks like is a separated left shoulder and a jammed
right elbow (like the injury he had against New England two
years ago).

Brett's comment at the end of the interview last night after
the game was "I'll be fine."

Latest word I heard being discussed is a possible start by Aaron
Rodgers next week, figuring that it would be the best way for
him to make his first start. Home game, supportive crowd, and
a very weak opponent. It has also been discussed that Brett
start the game, play a series, and then turn it over to Rodgers
(or maybe play the game, and if the Packers get a reasonable
lead, then turn it over to Rodgers).

My personal comments:
1) Play, Brett, Play. Take a week to losen up that arm. Wrap
up that left shoulder, shoot some vicodin in there if you have to.
You cannot fathom how much your playing streak means to us
Packer fans across the country. It took 15 YEARS to build that
up. Keep it GOING, even if it means a couple of token starts.
2) I'm not saying it was intentional, but I am resentful that the
Dallas D-back had to drill Brett into the turf like that. I'm not
going to formally accuse Dallas of intentionally planning to
injure Brett as a strategy to win, but I wouldn't put it past them.
3) This is all very sad. This was a storybook season Brett was
having, that I think football fans everywhere should be
appreciating greatly. It's horribly disheartening having it all
come to an end, the season, the streak, and the yardage
record that was just on the verge of being broken, just so
Dallas could get their "America's Team" bragging rights AGAIN.

I think he will play. The Packers are still in the running for homefield and a Bye in the playoffs.

Rodgers played well in his absence.

Um, I am watching SportsCenter as I type this and Mike McCarthy just said he expects Favre to play next week with 10 days between games. The elbow bruise is less severe than last year's injury, and the shoulder injury is his non-throwing one, something he can shoot up and play through.

There is nothing to be overly worried about. Even if Favre doesn't play the whole game vs. Oakland, I like the idea of him starting the first series to keep the streak alive. Rodgers played so well that I'm eager to see if he can keep it going. I just hope we get Woodson and KGB back.

Steve Young was describing the left-shoulder separation
as actually more problematic, in that it does will have a
serious effect on the "throwing motion".

I also just heard on the Mark Belling Show just now, too,
that McCarthy said Favre will play. However, it is still too
early to tell. The shoulder pull is the issue.

"Favre" by the way.

Yeah, I've heard all the news about how he WILL be starting
against Oakland. Good break to be getting a truly crappy team
at home after the tough hit.

My question, though, is how effective will he be? In not so much
worried about the right elbow, but the left shoulder, and what
that will do to his throwing motion. Or, what if he takes another
big hit? Anyone think he'll be up to throwing another 300-yard game,
even against Oakland?

I do refer to my teams as "we" ... life-long Packer fan, I inherited it from my Dad, despite neither of us being from Wisconsin (the closest I've been to it is Indiana).

I, on the other hand, am a natural-born Packer-fan, which makes
ME the # 1 fan on the site.

Furthermore, I have the same birthday as Brett Favre, which even
further solidifies my case.

I'm not surprised at all...

The guy eats glass for breakfast. He can surely take a little anterior deltoid discomfort.

The injury seems to be behind us.

He's obliterated all of Marino's records, now, so I'm happy.

With only Chicago and Detroit left, and a first-round bye,
looks like Brett will be fresh for the Divisional Playoffs.

I'm new to the site, but I am a natural born Packer fan and still live in Wisconsin, so I think I have a claim for #1 fan. My b-day isn't the same as anyones, but, being 23, I have only had one quarterback for my team pretty much as long as I can remember. How many other people my age can say that? I watched all 16 games and attended 2 so there
