Any one paying attention? Tom Watson went out and Carded a 65 and is sitting one shot back. NO doubt if he keeps this up he will be the sentimantal favorite for the weekend. Conditions were perfect for scoring and Tiger was one over doubt he will be a factor.

Woods Missed the cut for only the second time in his career. And Terrific Tom is still in the lead. We could be looking at one of the best stories ever.

The story is Tiger missing the cut. He says his knee is fine, so what's wrong with him? This is pretty unusual. I guess it's just golf; there are slumps and hot streaks. I just hope this isn't a harbinger of more problems to come. Golf needs Tiger atop the leaderboard.

I think with Tiger not being there though the Ratings will still be very good because of the Watson story. There is a Jack in 86 quality to it. The only thing that hurts it is it's the British open and not the master or US open.

I suspect the fact that he never stepped on the course until this week could have a bit to do with it.

Sucks that Watson came up just short. Almost won a majors 35 YEARS after his first PGA tour victory and 38 years after joining the tour. Simply incredible.

Hats off to Stewart Cink for battling his way through.

Yeah, it was the perfect story with an ending that just fell short. But what amazed me was seeing Watson's ranking shoot from in the 1,000s to 100-something. Wow, just shows how much of a darkhorse he was. He really choked in the playoff, though ... old or not, let's call a spade a spade.

Well, Watson's ranking was so low because he plays almost exclusively on the Champions Tour. He basically only plays the British Open and the Masters these days and maybe one or two other tournaments here and there.

Oh, but Watson "lost" the tournament.

And Tiger Woods didn't, by not even making the cut?
