Default Redskins give McNabb big extension

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/s...=ESPNHeadlines

There was some debate about how much is guaranteed, but this comes at a shocking time as Shanahan benched him in the fourth quarter just the other week. Will McNabb retire a Redskin now? Seems like it.

But now, where's Michael Vick's extension - or are Jeff & Joe too cheap to give him one?

It appears that McNabb is destined to retire in red, an odd twist of fate considering talks were of McNabb going to the Cards after the season. Very interesting, but the guranteed money is minuscule.

... now Shanahan benches him. What a freakin' insult to a QB of McNabb's caliber. Some are alleging that Redskins offensive coordinator, who is Shanahan's son, has been butting heads with McNabb, and that is the reason. How Shanahan has managed his QB this year has been despicable.

McNabb is going to Arizona, and Shannahan wont be coaching the Skins much longer. This has been a horrible season for the Skins, and the locker room is clearly upset about the whole situation.

And doing what he did to Albert Haynesworth has really worked like a charm too: The Redskins are last in the league in total defense.

The Redskins are currently more dysfunctional than DA RAIDERS!

I'll go on record right now and predict that the Redskins will sign Michael Vick in March.

McNabb will resurface in San Francisco.

With Vick a top contender for MVP, do you really think the Eagles will let him go? C'mon, man.

Especially given his personal situation financially, Vick is likely to ask for the moon - and Jeffrey Lurie is one of the biggest cheapskates in the NFL.

And assuming that the new CBA, once it is signed, does include a salary cap, the Eagles would be far better off spending the truly massive amount of cap space they'd save by letting Vick leave and Kevin Kolb stay on other pressing needs - most notably their worst-in-the-league offensive line.

Sorry man, Vick is not going anywhere. Eagles fans love him. Andy Reid MUST love him, because as far as your concerned he PROBABLY saved Andy's job right?

The Eagles love him because they are in the playoffs. And easily championship contenders. The NFL loves him because he is a face they can market, a reclamation project, the face of the NFL right now, oh yeah and an MVP candidate.

No, Vick is not going anywhere, not this year.

But when was the last time one of these glorified running backs with a jersey number lower than 20 has ever won a Super Bowl?

You need stability on an offense - and you'll never have that with someone like Michael Vick at quarterback.

And can you imagine how many times, say, Derek Anderson or Kerry Collins would have been sacked this year if they had to operate behind the Eagles' offensive line? With Michael Vick taking a vast majority of the snaps, the Eagles gave up 50 sacks; with an Anderson or a Collins it would have been close to 100.

This is the worst offensive line in football - not only at present, but at least since the one the Texans had as an expansion team.

And that is only more reason to KEEP Vick and not let Kolb take a BEATING behind a HORRIBLE line.

Guess you didn't get the inside joke - which was that Vick, and others like him, are glorified running backs.

Pocket passers rule in the NFL - especially when the time comes to hand out the Lombardi Trophy.
