Default Quentin Jammer Ready to Sit out the Season

CB Jammer out of Texas will sit out if he doesn't get 13.5 million from San Diego-the Chargers are offering 12.6-come on u greedy sucker-can't you live off of 12.6 million lol These players are crazy-he was the fourth or fifth draft pick overall and said he will re-enter the draft next season if he has to. I would tell him he can sit home forever. If the owners would stick together and say nobody sign him-but that would probably be illegal lol I don't know-could the owners do that or is that colusion?

Jeese, all that heckling over only $.9 million when you're an unproven rookie and still getting $12.6 million? Something is wrong here. This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off.

Remember Craig Erickson, the quarterback out of Miami of Florida? Well he did the same thing Jammer is now apparently contemplating; although Erickson was only a fifth-round pick (in 1991) - he went back into the draft the following year, and this time Tampa Bay selected him in the fourth round. After three seasons with the Bucs, he was with the Colts in '95, then returned home so to speak, by playing for the Dolphins in 1996 and '97.

lol..........yup and the best part about Erickson, was he stunk regardless who had his rights.

Yes Bama, it would be collusion if the owners were found to be doing that. Obviously, with someone of Jammer's reputation, if they were to let him sit and re-enter the draft and knowone were to take him early, it would be pretty obvious collusion was taking place. Still I side with the Chargers. Dont buckle and make him sit the whole season. Maybe then he will realize what a fool he really is.........because he will never be able to make up the millions he lost not playing for one year.

Question

Of course, colusion would have to be proven in a court of law. Yes it would look funny if noone took him in the 2003 draft, but still they-being Jammer's attorney would have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the owners did do that in fact. But I'm sure some dumb owner will sign him for millions.

Dont forget Baseball owners were found guilty of it one time. But believe me i'm with you. I would love nothing more then to see him never get a cent from the NFL.

Better yet, maybe he suffers a career ending injury(not life threatening) working out on his own in some freak accident before ever signing a contract, thus missing out on the signing bonus. We couldnt be so lucky.

As it turns out, there's more to the Quentin Jammer situation than meets the eye - at least according to an item that appeared in Friday's San Francisco Chronicle, in which Ira Miller relates that the reason Jammer, who was the fifth overall selection in the draft, is upset is because the Chargers are offering him less than what the Chiefs gave defensive tackle Ryan Sims, who was picked sixth; San Diego is in effect "dissing" Jammer, and that's why he's threatening to go back into the draft in 2003.

I understood that, but 12.6 million-hey lets sign and talk more later, like they always do-I would tell him-hey have a great season and I will bump it up to 13.5 or whatever.

Well if what Anthony says is true, then I cannot argue with Jammer's reasoning. They should set up the rookie pay scale similar to what the NBA does. Then these things would not happen.

Jammer signed yesterday, I believe, to a contract. About time.
