1] LaDainian Tomlinson
2] Priest Holmes
3] Ahman Green
4] Deuce McAllister
5] Shaun Alexander

Alexander's a tough call over, in no particular order: Clinton Portis, Jamal Lewis, Tiki Barber, Ricky Williams, Fred Taylor, and Marshall Faulk. Sleeper: Brian Westbrook.

I always wait for Brad to chime in on these, because I thoroughly respect his view of the game. I'm going to expand this out to 12, like we had for QBs, because I feel bad leaving out some of the names that get left off the board when discussing only five. Brad obviously had the same problem, having thrown in seven of his own...

1. Clinton Portis
2. Stephen Davis
3. Deuce McAllister
4. Priest Holmes
5. LaDanian Tomlinson
6. Marshall Faulk
7. Fred Taylor
8. Edgerrin James
9. Michael Bennett
10. Shaun Alexander
11. Tiki Barber
12. Ahman Green

Ok, that was much harder than the quarterback position for me. I base my top 12 on the productivity of the backs not only from a running perspective, but also as a receiving threat out of the backfield.

Priest Holmes is to the Chiefs what Marshall Faulk is/was to the Rams. Ahman Green has had a breakout season by becoming to Packers main threat and not Brett Favre. If the Pack finish strong and sneek into the play offs Ahman Green will be a top candidate for the MVP.

I'd say either Ahman Green or Priest Holmes, with Deuce pushing them. Shaun Alexander is obviously my favourite, and I think he can be underrated at times.

Clinton Portis has the Title belt!

1. LT
2. Preist
3. Clinton
4. Ahman
5. Westbrook/Buckhalter (only as a combo I think they make the top 5, but Westbrook is no doubt the Eagles MVP)

Dave, Green at No. 12? He's top-three, IMO. Combined with your criticism of Favre, this is more evidence that you have some kind of vendetta against GB.

If Marshall Faulk was consistently healthy, i would put him ahead of Lewis and Alexander.

What can I say, Marc? I'm not as overwhelmingly impressed with Ahman Green as the world.
I wouldn't put Holmes ahead of M Faulk, either, if Faulk hadn't been so injury prone in recent years. Most everyone else has a rather lurid love affair with Holmes that I don't share.

Meanwhile, I don't hear anyone complaing about where I put Portis.
