Please explain to me how the SEC is the 2nd best conference in the nation, considering thier subpar performances in the past two NCAA tournaments and the fact that they don't have a team as good as Illinois, Kansas, or Syracuse.

Well, the ACC is number one for sure. Second, I'd have to say the Big 12, so far, as Kansas is so talented, Oklahoma State is playing great, and Iowa State seems like they might be a surprise team. Not to mention Texas.

The Big East is the best right now imo. I know their ooc isn't very good but it is very deep. Georgetown is coming around and should make the tourny. The Big 12 is also excellent, Everyone seems to be forgetting about Oklahoma State. But thier catching fire and their one of my final 4 picks.

Thumbs up

I believe in revisiting predictions, so i'm digging this baby up. A representative list from a few weeks ago:

Looking at how the tourney worked out, I'd have to say in 2005 it went:

1. Big 10
2. ACC
3. Big East
4. Conference USA/Pac 10/Big 12 (more or less tied)
7. SEC

(And yes, the tourney matters more than the regular season.)

Most in this thread dismissed the Big 10. But Alex and CubFan get props for sticking up for the Big 10 being a top conference.

Meanwhile, SEC embarrassed the heck out of me this year-- four out of the five entries were upset by worse seeds

...And the champions of the Big Ten: UNC! Beat Wisconsin, Michigan St., and Illinois.

Next year Duke will be dangerous, and really...it's a pick 'em in that conference. If ACC surrenders their basketball crown...it wouldn't be worth anything...since they can always go to...

FOOTBALL.

(just j/k) They can't PAY Cameron Crazies to go to a Duke football game.

Carolina also beat Iowa and Indiana during the regular season.

When you crunch the numbers the ACC comes out 1/2 game ahead of the Big Ten in the tournament:

ACC: 12-4
Big Ten: 12-5
