Default Mariners are frontrunners to land Delgado

The M's were broke.

Nintendo just bought more of the Mariners.... money is no problem

But I agree.... we need pitching. Carlos would be a great pickup though....

I would love Seattle to pick up Sexson and Delgado, but a priority should be Pavano. But hes a real pipe dream with the Yankees and Red Sox going after him. Beltre would be nice but he might be a pipe dream as well.

Nintendo holds a controlling interest in the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners seem to be taking some risks here. Delgado and Sexson both have health issues and they want Sexson to play the outfield. Seems a bit of a gamble to me.

Don't know, but from what I have read is that Delgado is insistent on playing first base and that the M's will ask Sexson to play OF most of the time and DH some of the time.

The Mariner's need a bit of everything. They were 25th in runs scored and 28th in home runs so they definitely need some pop in the middle of the order and that does not come cheap.

Thing is Safeco is seen as more of a pitcher's park so the thinking may be that they can get by with lesser pitchers. There is not a ton of pitching talent on the market this year and teams like the Yanks and the Red Sox who are already playoff teams are going to get the pick of the litter.

you only play half your games at home. Also both teams play when you play at home so it WOULD matter who's pitching.

Sexson in the OF? Anyone else think that's a bit odd, especially in spacious Safeco Field?

Sexon came up as an outfielder. Can he still play out there? Anyone's guess. The Mariners are also hot after Jaret Wright. He could be a good pickup for them.
