Default Should Andy Reid step down?

Reid has no plans to leave Eagles despite judge's criticism

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Andy Reid has no intention of stepping down as coach of the Philadelphia Eagles despite being castigated by a judge who likened the coach's home to a "drug emporium."

Asked at his regular Friday news conference whether he planned to coach the Eagles for the long term, Reid answered with one word: "Yes."

The judge's comments were made Thursday, the same day his two sons were sentenced to prison terms.

He has no plans to step down despite very harsh criticism. Is this the right move?

He has a responsibility to the Eagles and I for one don't think there is anything he can do for his children right now anyways.

There is a recent precedent here, sort of - Mike Martz, who had to "temporarily" step down due to a heart problem, only to see the "step-down" become permanent.

And letting Marty Mornhinweg take over in Reid's absence (at least for the remainder of this season) can only make matters worse: If that does indeed happen, you can write off the Eagles' four remaining road games as automatic losses (of course you can already write off one of those games regardless of who's coaching - their game at New England on November 25th, a likely casualty of flexible scheduling).

But look on the bright side: Reid can now do commercials for Drug Emporium!

Does anyone else think that Anthony is really one of Reid's children trying to sabatoge the Eagles??

Good point. I would hate to hear of another story like what happened to the Dungy family a couple years back. As a coach, I think he is fine, but maybe as a dad he needs to devote more time.
