He wasn't going to start full time until he finished his degree at the University of Missouri this month. He should be on in some capacity shortly as college graduations are in full swing.

IMO, ESPN's official end began when they hired fat tubba Rush Limbaugh to "comment" for their Sunday NFL pregame show. And then aired the series "Playermakers."

There had been other signals, though. The movie about Bob Knight. Beg, Borrow and Steal. The movie about Bear Bryant.

It's not so much that these things weren't unwanted (well, that's part of it), but they were bad. Blech. (This comment refers to everything but Playmakers, of which I saw too little to make a real judgment.)

But, what can honestly challenge ESPN in todays market?. Fox is a very poor immitation. I personally haven't been that bothered by ESPN's attemps at trying new things to keep it fresh. Sportscenter and baseball tonight are still two of the best shows on TV. In todays cut throat TV market, you cannot afford to go stale.

Yeah their attempts at drama and movies is usually borderline horrible. I saw Playmakers like two or three times, I couldn't stomach anymore of it.

I think Stuart Scott is another huge reason for the network being in the tank. They seem to think he is a great sportscaster, and seem to look for his so-called style in all their anchors now. They are totally oblivious to what an annoying ******* that guy is!

Unfortunately you are right. Maybe we'll get lucky and sooner or later there will be a 'Fox News' of sports to come along and challenge ESPN.

I have some hopes that Disney will sell off ESPN at some point, and new leadership will re-orient to sports, giving up on female viewership. But, that's just me...

I don't think any of ESPN's specials matter one bit right now. It's not like they degraded the quality of SportsCenter or its sports coverage at games. They might have been stupid shows, but they are gone and it is as if they were never here...

Ok for one, Playmakers ruled. They had some good ratings from what I heard. And come on MSU Fan how are you gonna bash Stuart Scott? You must be racist or something because that guy makes Sportcenter an awesome show every night. And the movies, they weren't that bad I mean they were worth watching. And even with ESPN experiminting you are always gonna have the 6 am, 6pm, and 11pm Sportcenters to count on. (not to mention the reruns in the AM.)
And really people, who is gonna challenge ESPN? Fox Sports? Are you friggin kidding me? They got a great personality in Max Kellerman and they still suck. They come up with a good show in Best damn sports show and they still suck. And Disney doing Sports? Huh? Just admit, ESPN was, is, and always will be the place you watch for sports.

K-bix, no problem with you sticking up for ESPN or disagreeing with someone, but painting someone a racist simply because they don't like Stu Scott is out of line.
