Question:

Why wouldn't NE try some folks out? Billy says they ain't gonna bring anyone in.

What about Culpepper? And I know it's a stretch...but what about Bledsoe? He knows the system.

I don't get it either given that the only other QB on the roster is Kevin O'Connell a rookie who did not exactly light it up in preseason.

The Pats like to play mindgames with themselves all the time. The whole notion of being the underdog when they were winning Super Bowls and then the idea that the League was out to get them during spygate. Maybe Belichick saying they aren't in a rush to bring a QB is to give Cassel confidence?

I would agree with that notion to an extent. But surely Cassel realizes that it is in the team's best interest to bring in a seasoned veteran as insurance in case he gets injured.

I believe Cassel can get the job done.Or rather I hope so considering I had Brady on my Fantasy Teams and now will be relying on Cassel.

It's safe to say the Pats' Super Bowl chances are down the drain, but honestly, Cassel looked pretty good and put up some good numbers. He's a young QB who now has an opportunity ... so I say give him the reigns and bring in an experienced vet as insurance. The Pats can still have a winning season. I say 10-6 is best case scenario.

Pats re-sign Matt Gutierrez to the practice squad and may activate him for Sunday's game:

He does have one year in the system but is not exactly the veteran backup I was thinking of.

I am thinking that Brett Favre just looked up and saw a chance for the Jets to take the division.

At the time he had only three options which were backing up Rodgers in Green Bay, go to Tampa and play for Chuckie, whom I am convinced is bipolar, or go to the Jets. He had to make a decision at that time so he would have a couple of weeks to get in some practice with his new receivers before the season started.

True. I am a big Packer fan and can't believe that the Packers didn't take back Favre. Having said that, Rodgers has started out very well and should be around for several years to come.

Also I don't think that one can underestimate what picking a NYC team will do for Favre. Endorsements and media attention will be huge and if he takes the Jets to the playoffs I wouldn't be surprised if they have a ticker tape parade for him.

Why the Patriots aren't seriously looking into Jake Plummer is beyond me.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he plays handball and smokes dope all day long.

Seriously.

Seriously.

When Jake Plummer is my age, he'll be a better QB than anyone on the Pats' roster is now - dope-smoking or no dope-smoking.
