Exclamation ATTENTION KaZaa users - Hijacking banners and stealing traffic

DO NOT download a program called KaZaa to share files. KaZaa is one of the most popular music file sharing applications right now. It also secretly installs another application called "TopText" which messes up web pages and modifies random text with links to advertisers. It could effect YOUR site.

Read please for more info:

If you have it installed by installing KaZaa, uninstall it, as it will uninstall the "TopText" worm.

How do I uninstall (remove) "TopText"?

In order to uninstall, please follow these steps:
1. Go to START --> Settings --> Control Panel
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
3. Select TopText, HOTtext, DesktopDollars HOTtext, or any other variation of TopText.
4. Click uninstall and wait a few seconds.
5. A confirmation window will pop-up, please click OK
6. Re-Start your computer

All the eZula files will be deleted once you re-start your computer.
There's even a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/toptext/against this evil program.

How does this effect us?
Quote:
To date, over SIX million users have this on thier machine.

From what I have been fortunate enough to read, this is an extremely scary situation, one that will have an affect on EVERY WEBMASTER.

Imagine, downloading KaZaa in order to share a couple files with some friends, then at some point you go to your website to perform maintenance. All of a sudden, your text is full of yellow underlined links, links that you never placed there, it was just text. Now imagine your real links have become drop down menus! That is what is happening, now instead of having a link point to that great affiliate or cool website, your visitors have a drop down menu which lists COMPETING VENDORS, links that you do not get paid for, clicks that your friend with the cool page will not get!

Do you want your website distorted by some scum company just so that they can make a buck? Do you want some scum company taking your advertiser dollars away?

Here is a great example of what they are doing, and if you have this software installed I invite you to go to the Symantic website and take a look. Symantic website has links to Mcaffe anti-virus? I can promise you that Symantic did not put them there.
Thanks for reading. By all being aware of this, we can help prevent his scum for happening more. Webmaster or not, you need to remove this TopText program ASAP.

I've seen screen shots of this. The people who created this should be taken out back and severely beaten with shovels. It does nothing but piss people off.

No Nick, it doesn't matter if you have a web site or not. If you have this malicious program installed on your computer, it HIJACKS other web sites - Yahoo!, governement web sites, etc. If you read above, you would know it takes words from sites you visit and turns them into links to competitors! If you have a sponsor on your site, for example, TopText might CHANGE the link and make it direct to a competitor. This problem is DISHONEST and CHEATING hard-working people.

This is a browser plug-in that changes links on pages against the wishes of sites. It is dishonest and it hijacks sites, basically.

Go here to see if you have it installed: http://i4net.tv/ezula.php

If you do, uninstall directions are above.

The efforts to stop "scumware" like this have had great results thus far, eZula (another similar program) is no longer set by default to install, KaZaa has lost its TrustE seal, many advertisers have withdrawn, there are dozens of webpages that have been built around this issue, and at least two complete websites are being built now.

This seems like something vulnerable to a scam (I'm reffering to Napster clones that give something for free). The Greed of KaZaa's will certainly not do them any good.
