Default Who's the odd ball?

With just 3 game days left (including today), the final 3 playoff spots in the West are still up for grabs after the Blues clinched a playoff spot for the 23rd consecutive year, and the Hawks clinched also, looking to end their NHL-long streak of 41 years without a championship banner.

As expected, the Avs, Red Wings, and Sharks are also in the playoffs, but now, with the Stars eliminated from playoff contention for just the 2nd time since they moved to Texas, there are now FOUR teams searching for the final THREE playoff spots.

My question to you is: who will be the odd-ball that will be booking their tee times come the final buzzer on April 14?

1. LA Kings (1 point in final 2 games to clinch -- @ San Jose/vs. Anaheim)
2. Vancouver Canucks (must win final game to clinch -- @ Calgary)
3. Phoenix Coyotes (need 3 points in final 2 games to clinch -- vs.Minnesota/vs. Nashville)
4. Edmonton Oilers (must win final 2 games, plus a loss by any of the 3 above teams to clinch -- vs. Calgary/@ Minnesota)

Of course, all of these are subject to how the other teams do. The situations I have listed in brackets are assuming all the other teams competing for those spots go perfect down the stretch.

The 'Nucks are unbeaten in 9. They're in.
Coyotes have the easiest schedule. They're in.
And I have obvious favortisim to Edmonton, so they're in also!
...leaving the Kings searching for answers

I'm thinking the Kings will be settin' tee times, although I got a feeling the Wild could very well be the spoilers for Phoenix. I guess that puts me in the category of floundering in the complexities of you question.

I voted the Canucks but I meant the Oilers. I don't think it'll turn out for them.

I went with the Kings. The Canucks are hot while the other two teams get to play easy teams. The Kings are the only ones who play a good team.

Yip -- with the Coyote's 7-1 win over Minnesota, combined with the Oilers 2-0 loss to the already eliminated Calgary Flames, an Alberta team will not be in the playoffs for the first time since.... there were Alberta teams in the NHL -- either the Flames or Oilers have made the playoffs ever since the 1979/1980 season.

Now the Western Conference is set also -- the top 16 teams in the NHL have clinched..... 2 days left to determine positioning and we're off to the post season!!.... It was definitely the best regular season in recent history -- the East took all but 6 days to decide, the West, all but 2. Wow!

This was a great season. There were a lot of surprises (not the Red Wings though). Pretty much anyone can come out on top.

Yay.... heck, forget "WAS" exciting (I was also guilty of saying that earlier) -- it still IS!!!..... Look at the standings Besides Detroit locked at #1, Carolina locked at #3, and Montreal locked at #8... well.... although the 16 teams have been determined, 3 of them are locked at their current seedings, but no one knows who will face who.

Toronto can't finish any lower than 4th, but can jump up to 1st with a win and a Boston tie or loss. Philly is 4 points back but can still make #1 in the East, too.

Most of the above questions (and then some!) will be answered tonight.

It was a great season which went down to the wire to see who would go and who wouldn't. I'm thrilled 'cause the Canadiens are in the playoffs.

Right. I'm sure he'll win the Vezina but the Hart might be harder to win.
