More seriously, though, I don't get the concept of psychotropic drugs.

Putting these artificial substances into your brain just doesn't seem
to make sense...whatever the experience is. You mean to tell me
you don't have the creativity to entertain yourself in any other way
than artificial stimulation??

People think I'm weird because I've never even been drunk.
The worst vice I have is the occasional cigar. I don't think I've
missed anything, not when I've seen other people get stinking
sick, or heard of royally stupid things people have done to
themselves while on a drug trip.

CK, I'm not judging you morally here...I just honestly
don't get it. You just seem too thoughtful and intelligent than
to do something like this.

I'm not the most experienced person in the world, but you've missed a lot. I mean, you've probably missed more by not reading Proust or Schopenhauer, but you've still missed a lot. Sometimes it's just fun to get out of your head for a while.

Drugs allow one to reach a consciousness that you can not reach otherwise.

Talk about religion, the closest I have ever come to believing in a higher power has been under the influence.

The fact of the matter is, people have been using substances to escape reality throughout history... It is nothing new, and there must be some value to it.

Some cultures did for spiritual reasons, some for medical, and others for simple recreation.

The average human seeks a break from reality. More power to you if you don't, you're probably in better health for it. But most of us seek some sort of mental relief. We see a very ugly world, and drugs offer a "vacation" from all the ugliness.

I've done acid, and there was no higher consciousness involved with it, no spiritual enlightenment, but it WAS fun.

You also have to consider dosages....I think the hippies in the 60s were taking a whole lot more when they did a hit of acid than anyone today.

I actually would worry more about what other substances might be 'cut' with any drugs you take than the drugs themselves, in many cases. It's not as though you get them from the most reliable, well-regulates sources

The thing about drugs that bothers me is it takes one out of the real, and into trouble most of the time. The more one does it, the more money they need to do it, so they sell it (breaking another law) and get convicted just for living in a false sense of happiness.

80% of the inmates at the prison I work at are drug related. And they ALL blame the drug, not them selves or their dependence for the drug. They hate the drug for what it has done to them, not what they have done to themselves.

There a millions of drug users who break no other laws. There's a difference between responsible drug users and irresponsible drug users.

It is the same with alcohol. Some people drink responsibly, other don't.

Those are given by Doctors and not the punk on the street corner. If not given by a doctor, then it is just as bad. If one uses alcohol, there are responsibilities as an ADULT must be aware of,...such as not drinking and driving. But it is legal and yes it takes one out of the real as well. But it doesn't make your teeth fall out within a year's use like Meth does. Have you even gotten a good wiff of Meth-Breath CKFresh? I have, from inmates, and it is sick to see these young people in their 20's looking like they are in their late 50's. YOU CANNOT JUSTIFY THAT!

Who is trying to justify Meth?

For me? Almost all of them.

For you? Whatever you decide you don't like.

It's not any of my business what you do, so long as you don't hurt anybody. It's not any of your business what I do, in my home.

Why is it illegal for me to smoke a joint in my house, but you can drink a beer in your house?

Det (French) You can't compare drugs such as Marijuanna and Meth..

A couple of years ago a friend of mine tried smoking weed for the first time and ended up freaking out and going to a hospital. It wasn't until there that it was realized that he had smoked PCP. From situations such as that they need to legalize Marijuanna. That way people know what they are getting, the same people that are going to do it anyways. I always laugh when someone is so against weed and for Alcohol, when alcohol is so much more problamatic to society. (Health reasons, violence, DUI's, ect..) Either start up prohibition again or legalize soft drugs like Marijuanna.
