Cool Anthony's Week 10 NFL Pointspread Picks

Last week: 5-8-1. Season totals: 54-77-4, Pct. .415. Best Bets: 12-14-1, Pct. .463.

Home team in capital letters; point spreads (opening line) in parentheses after underdog team; selections with point spreads in bold.

L.A. Chargers
23 (+1), OAKLAND 10 - Still looking for my first Thursday night cover of the season! Expecting to find it here with the Chargers, who swept the Raiders the last two years, outscoring them 93-42 doing it - and while Oakland is doing the right thing by building through youth and the draft and not mortgaging the future for quick fixes, as Joe Thomas said when he ordered Don McCafferty to bench Johnny Unitas and start Marty Domres at quarterback in 1973, and then fired McCafferty when he refused, if you're going to lose, you might as well lose with young players so that you may grow and mature together.

N.Y. Giants
20, N.Y. JETS 13 (+2 1/2) - The black cat that ran across the field Monday night is a fitting symbol of the season for the Giants, who added three more turnovers to their already league-leading total. But they're 5-1 lifetime against the Jets "on the road" - and do you think that they want to go down as the team that lost to the team that lost to Miami?

TAMPA BAY 30, Arizona 28 (+6) - What gives with this constant overrating of the Bucs by the oddsmakers? Arizona is also 10-4 against the spread outdoors since 2017. A cover by the underdog is clearly in the Cards - and an outright upset might be too.

Buffalo 17 (+2 1/2), CLEVELAND 10 - And this one is even worse. When are the oddsmakers going to stop giving the Browns the respect they don't deserve? The 6-2 Bills are a better team than the 2-6 Browns and will prove it Sunday.

Baltimore 27, CINCINNATI 0 (+10) - Oh yeah, it's Andy Dalton's fault that the Bengals are 0-8: They're 11th in the league in passing offense, while both their running game and their defense rank dead last. Zac Taylor is in further over his head than the victim of a Mafia hit weighed down by a block of cement in the river.

Kansas City 24, TENNESSEE 14 (+6) - Matt Moore needs to be on the next Campbell's Chunky Soup commercial: Just as Campbell's Chunky Soup claims to be the soup that eats like a meal, Moore is the backup quarterback who plays like a starter - in this matchup, for example, his lifetime won-lost percentage as a starter (.485) and long-time first-stringer (at Miami) Ryan Tannehill's (.484) are essentially identical. And the home team in this series has not fared well in this millennium - 2-7 against the spread.

CHICAGO 28, Detroit 7 (+3) - Do not ask for whom the Triple Witching Hour tolls this week. It tolls for the Lions, who are 10-31 straight up and 14-25-2 against the line in those babies dating back to 1994. Send your get-well cards to the Bears.

NEW ORLEANS 37, Atlanta 20 (+13) - Both teams are coming off a bye (as will the Patriots and Eagles next week) - a situation in which New Orleans has been marginally better, historically speaking (19-11 against the line to Atlanta's 15-14-1) . The Saints won't be seriously challenged until they host the 49ers in Week 14 with all the marbles in the NFC on the line.

INDIANAPOLIS 23, Miami 17 (+13) - Not only did the Dolphins run their spread record to 4-0 since their Week 5 bye last week, but they even picked up their first win of the season. And if Jacoby Brissett can't make it back from the sprained left knee he sustained last week in Pittsburgh, the start would go to Brian Hoyer, who has lost his last nine starts dating back to 2016 - and you would have to lay nearly two touchdowns?

PITTSBURGH 24 (+4), L.A. Rams 21 - The "cold weather" picks went 2-1 last week - and better days figure to lay ahead as the weather gets colder, and this game is in the late time slot. And the Steelers have dominated the Rams of late, winning and covering in the last three meetings by a combined 50 points. The Rams are coming off a bye, but Pittsburgh is an NFL-best 11-4 straight up in fatigue games, and the Rams are 13-22 straight up and 13-21-1 against the spread in cold weather since 1992.

GREEN BAY 31, Carolina 13 (+6) - From the "As If You Didn't Know" file, Cam Newton has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season - and from the "You Probably Didn't Know But Strongly Suspected" file, Carolina is 7-13 straight up and 8-12 against the line since 2006 as a visitor in cold weather. This game has been moved to the late time slot.

DALLAS 38, Minnesota 24 (+3) - This is exactly the type of game that Kirk Cousins has been losing throughout his career - on prime time, and against an over-.500 team. Dallas offense leads the league with 436.8 yards per game.

SAN FRANCISCO 16, Seattle 13 (+6 1/2) - In the second meeting last year, the 49ers snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Seahawks. Last Thursday night, they snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Cardinals. But they didn't cover - and six of Seattle's nine games this season have been decided by six points or less. Take the points.
