I agree. He leads the AL right now in all the major pitching categories. I would love to see him pitch in the post-season.

I actually have to agree with Colin Cowherd on something. ESPN has such tunnel vision when it comes to baseball it is ridiculous. Hello, there are teams in the A. L. other than the Red Sox and Yankees. I am so tired of hearing about who deserves the A. L. MVP between Jeter and Ortiz and quite honestly I don't think either of them does.

Tigers lose to Seattle 5-4 in 10....

Twins lose to TB 4-2....

Chi-Sox about to close out Boston 8-1.....

This'll undo a little of the damage the White Sox have wrought on themselves lately....

edit: Sox win 8-1 on a complete game by Contreras. While being spotty down the stretch, it's good to see the starters gettin' into the late innings or finishing them.

You know, so far, the Marlins got the far better end of the Josh Beckett deal. Sanchez is 7-2 with a 2.89 ERA and Hanley Ramirez is hitting .283 with 55 EXBHs and 44 steals. While Beckett is 14-10 with a 5.11 ERA.

You'd expect Beckett to come back from this year but meanwhile these guys are just gonna get even better...

Dye is making a run at the AL MVP. Papi had my vote (if I had one), but obvioulsy him being hospitalized for a week slowed his numbers. And he hasn't got a hit since he came back (2 games) - so unless he starts producing again, he's most likely out of the MVP race.

Anabil Sanchez has some nasty stuff. There were some great plays in the field in that game though.

As to Anibal Sanchez' game last night, according to Elias Sports Bureau, it breaks the longest drought between no-no's in baseball history, some 6320 or so games -- since Randy Johnson's gem in May of 2004 for the D'Backs. The longest previous time between no-no's was from the end of September, 1984 to mid-September 1986 -- 4015 games.
Just a bit of trivia for you to amaze your friends with.
Frankly, I do not see any reason this kid from Venezula can't throw another one soon. He has great stuff and a decent defense behind him.

I know you were asking bama, but I tend to agree with him: Braves are now 7 games back in the wildcard race and I don't see them winning it by passing up 6 other teams....

On a side note: who woulda thought that the wildcard might be won by a team from the NL West? That's a possibility, with the Padres in a 3 game lead.....

Tigers pound the Twins 7-2....

Not to be outdone, the Sox are lettin' the Indians do a live autopsy in the bottom of the 8th 8-1.....

Atlanta begins their last home stand against the Chicago Cubs this weekend. Atlanta really needs a sweep here. Then they play Philly then Florida. So they can really help themselves this week if they win. That hasn't been easy for them in 2006, especially at home.

Good news for the Cards Izzy may be out for the season with an inflamed hip.
