Default What is the biggest story of 2004?

Here we are at the end of another year and so much has happened. If you were going to do a show for Fox News or CNN and had to pick the biggest story of 2004, what would it be?

Tsunami? Record Hurricanes hitting Florida? Iraq?

So many events can be reported on and many of them worthy of the title, "Biggest Story". Let me hear your runner up as well.

Your answers:

Biggest Story:

Biggest Story:
That the obvious mishandling of Iraq and the unrelated war on terror didn't cost the American President his position

Runner Up:
The Red Sox won the World Series, BABY!!

For the U.S., Iraq and Bush being re-elected. Then probably Janet's breast, ridiculously.

Biggest Story:The election was by far the biggest story.

Runner up: The runner up, in my mind, was Mickelson winning the Masters. I know it wasn't the biggest story, but it my mind it was runner up. Now that I am starting to second guess myself... that took place this year... right?

Domestic: the 2004 election
International: probably the tsunami (which could be the biggest story of 2005, too)
Sports: the Red Sox, followed closely by Armstrong's sixth Tour de France and the steroid scandals

Biggest story would be the overwhelming victory of our President in November.
Runner-up would be the Red Sox upsetting the Yankees to get the right to beat up on the Cardinals.
Seriously, the tsunami disaster and following epidemics will likely be the big story of the year. Likely not going to be outdone anytime soon.
