Default Best Finals Teams Since the Merger...

John Hollinger of ESPN has done a list of the top NBA Finals teams since the merger back in the mid 70s (30 years)

His list...

1. 1996 Bulls
2. 1987 Lakers
3. 1986 Celtics
4. 1991 Bulls
5. 1997 Bulls
6. 1985 Lakers
7. 1992 Bulls
8. 1999 Spurs
9. 1983 Sixers
10. 1989 Pistons

http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/playoff...=Finalists1-10

Now the thing is...he never specifically says the team had to WIN The Finals...just play in it. Not winning the title is kind of hollow...even though the 1984 Lakers or 1985 Celtics would sweep any Bulls squad from the 90s...so I only included champs in my list.

1. 1987 Lakers
2. 1986 Celtics
3. 1985 Lakers
4. 1984 Celtics
5. 1980 Lakers
6. 1981 Celtics
7. 1982 Lakers
8. 1988 Lakers
9. 1983 Sixers
10. 1991 Bulls

What? The '06 Heat aren't on there? Their starting 8 of Shaq, Wade, 3 schlubs, and the referees was unstoppable!

Man, the 1980s were definitely the best years in the NBA, and I miss that - Larry Legend, DJ, Magic, Kareem, Dr. J.....

I liked the 81 Celtics. I lived in Boston at that time.
