Default Favre to unretire AGAIN? Set to discuss with Vikes.

Why even bother retiring?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4142857

I understand a lot of his decision will hinge on his injured biceps, especially since he didn't have surgery on it.

If Brett comes out of retirement, I wouldn't be surprised to see John Madden unretire as well...

This has the potential for impacting a whole host of NFC teams' seasons: For one thing, Favre's return to Minnesota would all but assure the NFC North of having two playoff teams, with the total cakewalk schedules every team in that division has - and that could come at the expense of the NFC East, which was in fairly good position to snag both wild cards (with the NFC South's impending fall from grace being patently obvious).

And there's no way the Packers can stop it, this time.

Favre would be the worst form of traitor if he unretired to play on his Packers' arch nemesis. As a Packer, you just can't don the purple and gold, it's disgusting to even think about. I sure as hell hope this is a crock. Favre is only hurting himself and his legacy by doing this. But it seems like a devastating injury is going to have to be what it takes to end his career.

I am not sure this is the be-all-end-all move to put the Vikes over the top. The primary reason he retired in the first place was his arm blew up on him. Is his arm going to hold up over the entirety of the season?

Is he going to moan and complain the way he did in New York if the Vikings run the ball more than he likes?

The thing is, is he really that much of an upgrade for the Vikes? The Jackson/Frerotte duo threw as many touchdowns and fewer picks than Favre did last season. Not to mention he has lost his last four playoff games to teams not named the Seattle Seahawks.

BOR-ING.

If he comes back, I'll groan about every accolade he gets, but ultimately, he's screwed. Whether or not he plays well, he's got Brad Childress as his coach. I mean, really? Come on. The guy can't coach. He's worse than Mangini, in my opinion.

It is now being reported that he has told the Vikes thanks but no thanks:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4149875

I guess the Vikes were not willing to kiss his behind and give him the diva treatment he is used to getting. Either that or they were not willing to cut the check required to lure him out of retirement.

... and now it's being reported it's not dead and Favre sent the Vikings an x-ray of his shoulder. This is such a joke now that even I, a huge Favre and Packers fan, am rolling my eyes. But ultimately, Favre's not a guy who has ever cared what others think. It would be a shame if his motivation is to stick it to the Packers, though.

Favre's "entourage" has reserved 25-30 rooms in Green Bay for the Vikings game Nov. 1:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/s...r_espn_4245047

I've always been Favre's biggest fan, but this is disgusting to think he'll come out of retirement (again), and then do it for his old team's ARCH RIVAL. To see #4 in purple will make me literally SICK TO MY STOMACH. I'm saddened he's turned his career into a circus and he's slapping the Packers in the face, and doing it all in spite. Brett, I can't defend your actions any longer. Please stay in Mississippi.

Apparently the Vikes are pulling the reins a bit because Favre did not show up to the team's OTAs as requested:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4246757

The thing that is funny to me about this is the Packers couldn't even get Favre to show up to OTAs when they were paying him $10 mil per year and the Vikings expect him to show up without even having a signed deal in hand.

Well I can have any of a number of friends of mine get Favre in a kimura, and not let go of it right away when he taps out - then let's see what his shoulder x-ray would look like!

Favre has set a July 30 deadline to decide.

Oh joy!

Well now they're saying that "The Decision" may come as early as Friday.

I'm actually holding up even working on my annual pre-season picks thread until he does make up his mind, so I say the sooner the better.

The sooner the better so I don't have to keep hearing about it on SportsCenter ad nauseum.
