Red face Minnesota-New York Met Trade

Matt Lawton of Minnesota traded to New York for pitcher Rick Reed. Just what the Mets needed-losing another decent pitcher. Though I like Lawton. He's a good hitter.

I say good trade. Minnesota gets the starting pitcher they need. However, their OF lacks depth now.

The Twins have lots of decent OF's in the minors, John Barnes is one that comes to mind. He has been on the DL much of the season and is currently doing well in AAA. Another is Bobby Kielty. He is currently in AAA also. They have lots of players in AA and A that are nearly ready. I don't know how this will affect Hunter and Jones, but I think Buchannan and Allen will play well.

I voted for the Mets. I like Lawton.

Also, the Yankees picked up Hitchcock, not an earth shaking deal, but it helps us a bit.

This is an even trade. But the Twins didn't have OF depth, so now they're lacking. The Mets now have a quality OF. 2 more to go. Obviously Twins GM Terry Ryan had something else in mind but couldn't make a trade before the deadline for an OF.
