Default Heat sign Keyon Dooling

The Heat signed 6-foot-3 free-agent point guard Keyon Dooling, to a one-year contract. He's a guy who can score points and has a chance to develop into a very good player. Dooling will play alongside mentor and new teammate Eddie Jones, giving the Heat the only two Broward County natives playing in the NBA.

good pickup by the Heat! he's young and has ALOT of upside to him..

Meh, nothing special they are just bringing him in to fill out the roster. He will get 20 minutes a game backing up Jones and Wade probably not much more unless one of those two get injured. He needs to develop an NBA jumper if he is ever going to be anything more than a backup PG.

Good luck. That's all I've got to say. Dooling is not that special. Unless he proves otherwise, he's nothing more than NBDL talent. The most the Heat will see of him is a thunderous tomahawk once every 20 games. Clippers were absolutely desperate for a half decent point guard, yet Dooling still was at the end of the bench, getting less minutes than Doug Overton. I don't see anything special about that.

What are talking about? How does Lamar Odom compare to Haslem and Alston or Dooling for that matter. Odom has always been considered someone who should be a superstar he just has not established himself as such. None-the-less Odom has at least been a starter and a pretty productive player in the league when he is not suspended.

Rafer Alston is nothing special. He is a solid three-point shooter and that is about it. He averaged 12.2 points and 5.7 assists per game in 28 starts last year. He shot .397 overall as a starter, again nothing special.

Haslem's only been in the league for a year so it is too early to pigeon-hole what kind of career he may have. I thought he had a solid rookie season with Miami.

Dooling has been in the league for four years and has never showed any real improvement. His FG% has never been higher than the .409 he shot his rookie season. His minutes have never increased to over 20 per game and as Clipps pointed out he could not even win the starting job on a team desparate for PG help. It is one thing to be only playing 20 a game for a team like Sacramento or Dallas, but quite another to be riding the pine for one of the worst teams, record-wise, in the league.

and so.. the guy is 24 years old.. played for only ONE team (the Clippers might I add) and your already writing him off?

should I write a comprehensive list of players that have flourished after a change of scenery?

Digital: I would understand where your going at if the Clippers were packed at PG and SG and Dooling being the odd man out, but the fact is, the Clippers have given him so many chances to prove himself, under a great coach like Mike Dunlaevy, but he hasn't done crap. Like I said. He's NBDL talent at best with athleticism. His court awereness way too bad to be a point guard, and he's too small to be a shooting guard. The only 2 things Dooling was good for was a game saving block against the Lakers and a very rare tomahawk(even though it was sick).
