Default News...notes...rumors...

Still months away from college football...

Things I've read or heard recently...

1. Penn State named Robinson offensive captain (no surprise) for this upcoming season. Zematis (spelling?) got the defensive captain nod.

2. Purdue had just 3,000 fans for their spring game this past April. Cold day, but this is pathetic. Can't help but wonder if last season's collapse had something to do with this.

3. For KB- Akron has scraped their 21,000 seat new home stadium idea for a 41,000-46,000 one. Good idea. Woulda been too small. Kentucky and Syracuse close to signing on for a trip to the new crib, if not officially done yet. Akron will travel to their houses as well.

4. Ohio State is in talks with Youngstown State to possibly play as early as 2006. This is pathetic. Bad enough OSU lowers itself down to the MAC ( pains me to say it), but this is just stupid. Probably become offical in late May once the 12 game is added by the NCAA and I-AA opponents get counted as a win towards bowl elgibility. YSU will also travel to play Pitt this September, confirmed and ready to go, another big payout for the Penguins.

Starting linebacker Paul Posluszney was also named as a Penn State captain.

It seems as though a lot of teams seem to be taking this 12th game as a chance to schedule cupcakes and pick up the revenue of an extra home game. Penn State is currently slated to play Temple in a 2 for 1 beginning in 2006. Honestly, this is more like three home games with the third just in Philly. Penn State will fill the Linc and greatly outnumber the Temple fans.

LOL. Gotta love the haters.

Smith received $500 from a booster last year, thus the 2-game suspention. NO other findings with the football program.

Ohio State is squeaky clean, unlike the dirty SEC programs.

Thanks for the heads up about Akron, Buckeye.....Kentucky and Syracuse are already known for being willing to travel to MAC schools...Syracuse went to Buffalo last year, and Kentucky (I believe) went to Ohio either last year or the year before...

....how're they paying for the stadium, do you know? And where are they prosposing to put it, if you know that?
