Thumbs up Hooray for smart people!!!

Just thought i would throw this nugget out there. Vandy takes out Tennessee, and actually move ahead of them in the SEC East, knocking UT down to 5th in the eastern division. What a way for Cutler to go out. Big win for the program, even though the Vols are down this year.

That's a rare moment when Vandy pulls ahead of Tennessee.

Vandy could have easily won seven games this season. They lost to Middle Tennessee State at home and then lost to Kentucky badly last week.

But that doesn't matter to Vandy fans anyway. I'm sure that they would trade multiple bowl games for a win over Tennessee.

Where's the love for their northern counterparts Mike? My Northwestern Wildcats went 7-4 against the #3 SOS in the nation (as of 11-20-05).

Battle of the Nerds this weekend also to note: Stanford vs. Notre Dame.

BTW Mike, the Big Ten has completed their season with only Wisconsin playing Hawaii left on the schedule. Here's the national rank of each Big Ten's SOS this year according to Sagarin...

1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Northwestern
4. Illinois
5. Minnesota
7. Penn State
8. Purdue
9. Michigan State
10. Indiana
13. Iowa
18. Wisconsin

Don't need a Vandy grad to see that's a tough road, huh Mike?

Wow...9 of the top 10...obviously that demonstrates the Sagarin's formula has deduced the Big Ten conference is by far the toughest conference and therefore all members get big credit for playing a Big Ten schedule.

Seems a little extreme. Sagarin's been around awhile, I doubt there are any built in biases, but I sure can't exactly defend it to THIS extent.

Exactly, SOS really is not very credible. Most games played in a season by a team are in the conference. Come on 78, maybe Sagarin is a bit biased towards the Big Ten this year, seeing how every single Big Ten team is in the top 20 in SOS. Stop kidding yourself. If it's not that, then how is Minnesota #5 with all big ten games, and Tulsa, Florida Atlantic, and Colorado State as their non-conference games? SOS is overrated. Like ive said, just watch the games and it is not too hard to tell who are the 2 best teams in the country. If you want to turn it into a science, then go ahead, but that didnt work to well last year with Oklahoma getting to go fall on their face in the orange bowl because according to people like you they were better than a great auburn team because of strength of schedule.

I'm just sick of all this scientific crap in college football. It's just stupid. Everybody just overthinks things these days.

Hey, don't forget they took the Gators to OT a couple of weeks back as well.

How is strength of schedule scientific? It's kind of straightforward.

Nice.

He obviously isn't a Vandy grad.

78, the reason i didn't give Northwestern any props was my obvious bias to schools in the south. Seriously though, the last time Vandy beat one of the "Big 3" in the east SEC was back in the early 90s (i think they beat UGA in 94.) Plus, the team they beat was the Vols, which for me is always reason to post.

Whoa, tigereyes is back...

I enjoy seeing Tennessee being this bad. Do you guys think it's time for Phillip Fulmer to leave? I know they have high expectations there and he has to be feeling pressure. I can't remember the last time they weren't nationally-ranked. And if Vandy beat them, my Wildcats might have a shot, despite getting whooped by your Bulldogs, Mike.

Tennessee was ranked 3rd in the nation by both polls at the begining of the season. The loss to the Gators obviously sent them into a downward spiral
