Cool Oh. My. God. MountaineerDave's alive!

Hell has frozen over! I sent a test e-mail to Dave's e-mail account to see if it was still active, and what do you know, I got a reply this morning! Wow. He suddenly disappeared in March and we all feared the worst because he was such an integral part of this community and was the last person you thought would just leave. I'm still trying to find out why he left, but I think he feels a little embarrassed and hopes we accept him back. I think the answer's obvious on that one.

Honestly, he's been kind of a legendary figure around here and constantly referred to over the last nine (!) months even in his absense. Dave, we're all thankful you're okay and would welcome you back with open arms.

Here's what he said:
Quote:
Mark,
I was checking on a PM from Dublin Mike that I received notice of.

I appreciate the sentiment that you and he and others have extended.
I'm embarrassed to explain my extended absence, because I feel so strange and unstable for having disappeared so abruptly and inexplicably.

Please accept my apology for disappearing without notice and leaving you and the others in the lurch. Please let everyone know that I am very much okay.

If I would be accepted, I may return after the new year with a much-reduced level of participation compared to my previous levels.

Thanks for checking in.

Dave

!!!!! Would we accept him back? Jeebus, the guy must be nuts.

At least he is okay. I really was beginning to fear the worst.

Great news!

& to show there's no hard feelings, I think we should reduced the re-entry fee of site rule # 5491575987589 from $1000.00 to $500.00.

Sincerely,

Tarkus SCMB Treasurer

Fantastic! PLEASE email him back and tell him Kevin, Buckeye, Brad, Dublin, Tarkus and everyone else is eagerly awaiting his return, and that he has made our day.

I did that, Kevin. I'm hoping he can make a post explaining everything. It sure is great news! I PM'ed Simon, can't believe he hasn't posted in nearly two months. I also talked to Nate today, and he works long hours and his computer time has been limited to working on some design work, so he's kind of busy right now. I tell ya, though, all this is enough to wear you out. Keeping track of some these people is tough. (And if you think that's tough, imagine having 40 writers you have to keep track of, as well, along with remembering all their preferences and situations. No wonder I have trouble remembering new names...) But if everyone could be here at once, it would be awesome.

Yeah, I need Heathen back so I can brag about Spurs beating a bottom of the table Sunderland team this weekend.

I saw MaddEnemy the other day. He told me he thought the Colts might have a decent ballclub this year, win a few games. Then he called Kevin a meanie.

And, yea, it would be awesome if Dave made a return.

Whether he returns or not, it is good to here that he is doing ok.

Of course, it would be great if Dave came out of retirement. We could use some more of our veterans back around here
