Question Interleague play

Interleague play has been going on for a while now. What are your opinions about it?

I think it is pretty good. You get to see a lot of in state rivalries and exiting games like that.

Yeah I agree. I'd like to see two teams face each other each season, like the Mets and Yankees or the Red Sox/Braves (next to the Yankee series, this is the series I look forward to most) or Phillies. Then switch the rest of the series from year to year. It's been said before, but its a good idea that Selig should impliment.

No -- it's just you . Gary Bettman (NHL) is the worst commissioner in professional sports... he's seen three or four teams move under his "leadership" ... the only thing he's done good is bring in the Skills Competition to the All-Star Weekend... and THAT wasn't even original! (copied from NBA).

Anyways, about the subject, I kind of like interleague play... kind of not... A Toronto vs. Montreal baseball rivalry SHOULD intrigue me... but... it doesn't... nah -- give me a T.O. vs. Monteral hockey rivalry instead! ....but for some teams, it does make sense -- like NY vs. NY. However, you can't have some teams play interleague... and others not.

I don't like the poll options!

I wish there was just a simple "No, I don't like it" because I don't thinj Selig is "ruining the game with this idea."

But, ok, I didn't like the idea of Interleague play and I still don't.

I voted "Bud Selig is ruining the game of baseball with this idea."

Let me tell you why:

1. Too much expansion, need to worry about struggling franchise that are barely staying alive.

2. Salaries way out of line; meaning it costs more for fans to go to games.

3. Interleague play in the regular season - a big negative. Preserve it for the World Series, that's part of what makes it special.

Interleague play is a good idea, but I think that the divisions should rotate. AL East Vs. NL East one year, then Vs. NL Central, then Vs. NL West the 3rd year. The rotation would continue for the other divisions in a similar way. This would allow fans in American League cities to see the National League players outside of their geographic areas. The NFL, NBA, and NHL do it like this and all of the fans seem to enjoy it.

I sort of agree with you, Marc. The WS was always special because two teams met who never played each other in the post season. But, then again, you have some matchups during interleague play that would never occur in the WS. But, if I had to choose between the two, I would get rid of interleague play, preserving the 'specialness' () of the WS.

...interesting idea regarding the interleague schedule... how DO they currently determine which teams play which teams in interleague play??

Also, the NHL doesn't do it how you said... every team plays ALL the other 29 clubs in one season though, obviously, some emphasis is placed more on your division rivals, so you play them more often, but every club plays all the other clubs in the NHL.
