Default PredsFan6943's Official Eagles Thread

Watch, I'll probably be the only Eagles fan on this entire board. Joy of absolute joys!

A recap for those of you not familiar with the Eagles' season to date:

Week 1: Eagles 24, Texans 10. Eagles proclaim they are ready for the Super Bowl.

Week 2: Eagles 24, Giants 30 (OT): Trevor Cole delivers the Kick Heard 'Round the World. Jay Feely responds with one of his own, and the Eagles catch Eli at a time that he decides he's actually a QB. Eagles lose in overtime. Vehicles suffer as a result.

Week 3: Eagles 38, 49ers 24. Eagles win a contest they're expected to win, but the defense gets exposed as a unit that isn't able to last 4 quarters as the Niners are allowed to drive for a TD in the final minute. Doesn't hurt them here, but this inability to stop opponents at the end of the game will come back to haunt them.

Week 4: Eagles 31, Packers 9. Would have been Eagles 45, Packers 9, but Correll Buckhalter develops fumblitis inside the 5 - twice. Won't live it down until Week 10.

Week 5: Eagles 38, Cowboys 24. Eagles win the battle of turnovers, and Lito Sheppard marks his return from injury with a career-long 102 yard INT return for a TD. TO, meanwhile, has 3 catches for 45 yards. Happiness reigns.

Week 6: Eagles 24, Saints 27. Apparently, 12 men on the field is too many - a 12-man penalty negates a drive-ending sack late in the fourth quarter and keeps the Saints in the game. The Eagles' inability to hold opponents late is the deciding factor as John Carney kicks the game-winner.

Week 7: Eagles 21, Buccaneers 23. Donovan McNabb throws 5 TDs. Unfortunately, 2 are to Ronde Barber. Kickers figure prominently in this one as well, as Jerome McDougle draws 30 yards worth of penalties with under a minute remaining (15 yard facemask, 15 yards for kicking the penalty flag), and Matt Bryant makes the kick of his football life - 62 yards with room to spare. Happiness does NOT reign.

Week 8: Eagles 6, Jaguars 13. Worst offensive showing by the Eagles to date, as they are unable to move the ball against the Jags at home. Fred Taylor carves up the run D for 103 yards and Maurice Jones-Drew adds 77 as the duo exposes another flaw in the D - we can't stop a JV running back from gaining 100 yards.

Week 9: Finally, a week guaranteed not to produce a loss.

Week 10: Eagles 27, Redskins 3. Proving that the Redskins' D is good for whatever ails you, Donovan McNabb hits Donte Stallworth for a long TD and the running game proves itself in the 4th quarter. Sheldon Brown returns a pick for 70 yards and a score. Happiness once again reigns supreme - until...

Week 11: Eagles 13, Titans 31. Donovan McNabb is lost for the season to a torn ACL. Jeff Garcia does in and does an admirable job, but the loss of the team's leader proves to be too much. Travis Henry runs roughshod over the disheartened Eagles D, and the Titans roll in our house. The season is in doubt.

Week 12: Eagles 21, Colts 45. Joseph Addai proves the 3 best running backs to start in Fantasy play are LaDainian Tomlinson, Frank Gore, and any back starting against the Eagles. Offense does its job (aside from an ill-advised trick play involving Hank Baskett, a pass, and an INT), but the defense can't stop anyone or anything. Matt McCoy especially gets run over. Season looks bleak.

Week 13: Eagles 27, Panthers 24. Eagles fans everywhere sing the praises of Brian Westbrook and Lito Sheppard as the secondary saves the day. Jeff Garcia proves he can run the offense ably, throwing for over 300 yards, 3 TDs, no picks, and shows his durability by taking hit after hit. Eagles fans start hoping again.

Week 14: Eagles 21, Redskins 19. The secondary and Omar Gaither step up with huge defensive plays as the Eagles overcome Ladell Betts' career rushing day on the road. Jeff Garcia extends his INT-less streak while throwing for 2 more TDs. This Eagles fan notes there are less dropped passes with Garcia throwing the ball - is Donovan throwing them too hard?

Week 15: Eagles 36, Giants 22. AKA "The Dumb and Dumber Bowl", the Eagles and Giants try to one-up each other on bonehead errors. Eli Manning finally trumps them all, throwing a rainbow pick to Trent Cole for the game-sealing TD late in the 4th. Jeff Garcia finally throws a pick with three layers of tape and bandages on his bleeding throwing hand, but makes up for it with the TD that put the Eagles ahead late.
