Cool Carmelo Anthony

I defy anyone to say that he shouldn't be player of the year in college basketball. I want him to come back to SU so badly. He will be the #3 pick, if not #1 in the draft. Not the kid from Marguette or OU or wherever. He is the real deal and his momma ain't buying him no Hummer. He's earning it himself. SU FINAL 4.

Welcome, paulymo! :wavey:

I don't think he's Player of the Year ... hard to give a freshman that honor. But he's going to be a great pro and is one of the top college players.

Anthony is good, not player of the year but if he comes back and STAYS in school maybe he'll get it eventually. Syracuse has a great team. how bout Gerry McNamara. he's a Scranton boy like myself and he went to the same HS as my mom Post #500

I'm very glad to have Carmelo at the alma mater. He's been ridiculously nice this year. Hopefully, Syracuse will make a nice run in the tourney this month. What I'm most impressed about has been his composure.

No, he shouldn't be player of the year, but he deserves props and the 'Cuse wouldn't be where they are now without him.

LET'S GO ORANGE!!

Carmelo has had a great season, no denying that. But, a freshman won't win that award. He'll get enough hardware this year. He'll probably by the National and Big East Freshman of the Year. But as far as the National Player of the Year goes, I think it'll come down to Josh Howard, TJ Ford and Dwayne Wade. And after the performance Ford had on Sat. to help Texas beat OU on the road, I wouldn't be surprised if he got it.

I have to go David West on this one. He might not be a great pro, but he is one of the best college basketball players. I also think Josh Howard deserves this award.

David West is a very nice player and has had a great year and career, his teams point guard Lionel Chalmers is from here where i'm from, but I'm not giving that award to a player from the A-10, unless he is the second coming of Kareem. The A-10 peaked in the late '90's, its gone downhill for them since.

Josh Howard has been great, especially leading that inexperienced team to this level.

Dwayne Wade has also been great.

Mike Sweetney has put up incredible numbers, but his team is only so so, hurts him.

Reece Gaines was hurt by Louisvilles demise.

Troy Bell has been setting records, but his teams lack of exposure kills him.

Hollis Price is and has been great, but...........

I think the fact that TJ Ford(like E.Will said above) and Texas won that game on national TV at OU on saturday puts him in the drivers seat.

And Carmelo is a very good player, but not a POY candidate.
