Default Packers to sign Keyshawn??

Apparently there's an offer on the table. Just a move to pacify Favre or does GM Thompson really think he can help the team??

With the news of Finneran going down in Atlanta, the Falcons should jump in the Keyshawn auction. Finn and Key seem like very similar players,

I sure as hell hope not. As a Packers fan, I hate the guy. I would have accepted Moss, but I really dislike Meshawn.

He has really toned it down quite a bit though. I mean he rarely, if ever, popped off in the media.

I doubt Green Bay is a serious option though as he wants to play for someone who is considered a contender and the Packers are not quite there yet even with Keyshawn.

Prob because he realizes he not the player he used to be and teams don't need him.

Would this make Favre happy? He seems genuinely upset that the Pack did not bring Moss in, but I think the deal for Moss was a no-brainer. With the Pats he gets a shot at the playoffs this season. With the Pack, it'd be at least 2008/9 or later.
Keyshawn may have something left in his tank, but that is not certain. Can he be a productive receiver again, or will his mouth and ego get in the way?

I think Keyshawn still has something left, but I don't know that he is capable of being a go-to-guy anymore. He is more of a secondary/possession receiver these days.

That's true, but if the right team came along would Key stay retired?? If a team got on a playoff run and offered him a chance to get a ring would he take it??
I think he would.

I don't know. He already has a ring so I don't know how big of a lure that would be for him. His stance was that if he did play next year he wanted it to be with a contender. I suspect ESPN is probably paying him comparably to what any NFL team is going to give him which is probably why he took the security of the ESPN gig.

But were the Rams seen as a "contender" in the spring of 1999 - or the Ravens in the spring of 2000, or the Patriots in the spring of 2001?

That's the lamest and most overrated concept in sports - except for maybe baseball which, for better or worse, has never surrendered to the "now you see 'em, now you don't" mentality.
