This book has some of the most amazing and disgusting personal accounts I've ever read - seriously disturbing stuff from combat vets all over the world.
The book is called:
On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society
by LtCol Dave Grossman.

Wow... both The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged? Those are going to take you forever

I enjoyed The Fountainhead. Never read Atlas Shrugged. They are going to turn it into a movie in 2008; Staring objectivist Angelina Jolie. I've read Anthem by Ayn Rand too.

So much non-fiction, and even the fiction doesn't seem particularly modern

I'm going through a Vampire: The Masquerade anthology at the moment while I wait till I hit the bookstore and finish off a few series I need to get.

An objectivist called into Dennis Miller this morning saying that we shouldn't care about the environment or impoverished people.

Ayn Rand was going through huge internal conflict during the last years of her life and I think her message has been taken to too much of an extreme... one that she might even take back if she was still here to do it.

Right now, I am reading:

I reading a good book about Captain Rafael Semmes who captained the C.SS. Alabama during the civil war. Boy he really upset the seagoing commerce for the U.S. He was a Confederate naval hero. Great story. He lived in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama.
