Yeah, but with the Red Sox chasing them it wouldn't be referred to as a Rays collapse by the media, but rather the gritty poise of the Sox, or something of that sort.

The Mets can probably still win the East just because the Phillies are the Phillies and cannot get out of their own way at times. But the Mets won't make it out of the Divisional Series round without Wagner.

Big game today with Moyer/Pedro going after the Phillies took game 1. Then, Sunday night Hamels/Santana on ESPN. If the Phillies can win this one and then have Hamels shut them down Sunday night to get back into a first place tie, it could be huge for the Phillies mindset the rest of the way.

Brett Myers has pitched great since coming back from that minor league stint, if he keeps that up, they should get in.

And yet another losing season for the Pirates.

I can only ask myself why I continue to watch them...

Runningman, you are a baseball fan. It really doesn't matter if your team is winning or losing, just that they continue to play the game.
I am a Twins' fan and have had many losing seasons to cheer for. I still cheer for my team whether they are winning or not.

It's been 17 seasons now... though we can share the same sentiment when it comes to both teams letting the franchise players go...

Did you hear the drama over the Pirates latest 1st round pick involving Scott Boras? It appears the Pirates can't even draft to improve the stars won't sign.

I've read some of the drama in Baseball America. Its a shame that people like Boras are trying to ruin baseball. Fortunately, he will be unsuccessful in destroying it.

It is also a reason why some teams will not even draft a Boras client in the first round. I have seen some guys slip as much as 10 spots or out of the first round altogether because Boras is representing them and some teams do not want to deal with him.

Sad, but true. Boras ruins a lot of players chances to get a big payday initially. If they are good enough, they will get their payday later.

This is why I would like to see the MLB have automatic payments for drafted players like the NBA. That way teams will be able to draft the best players rather then who they can afford, giving teams like the Pirates a little better of a chance.

Man, are the Cubs out of sync...

Wood gives up a 2 run lead & the W by giving up 3 for a 4-3 Red win. I wish the Brewers would start putting pressure on these guys instead of doing things like their 10-1 loss to SD.

Sox & Twins are just trying to see who loses more in the 'apparently no one wants the AL Central' race.

Cubs were probably playing a bit above their heads most of the season, so a losing streak to bring them a bit back down to the rest of the pack isn't too surprising. They should be fine, though.

Tark, whichever team wins the AL Central will lose the first round of the playoffs. I'm not too excited about either. The White Sox have lost too many players to injury and the Twins bullpen seems to have forgotten how to get outs.
