Impossible.

Tebow would never allow such an outrage.

It is interesting how different the rankings can be on different sites.

It's because recruiting classes are impossible to rank.

I think National Signing Day is one of the most meaningless things about sports, and is something that should be celebrated only by the athlete and his family and friends. I absolutely hate the vast amount of websites devoted to ranking the athletic talent of fourteen to eighteen-year olds. Let's wait until they actually step foot on the football field and actually showcase their talent on a national stage before we start inflating their premature egos.

Bobby Bowden said it best on one of the local radio shows here yesterday when he said we will know in two or three years whether we had a good recruiting class or not.

I agree it is all a lot of hype. Look at coaches like Jim Grobe and Tom O'Brien who never have highly touted classes yet somehow always manage to win 8 to 10 games a year and churn out their share of NFL prospects. Recruiting rankings don't mean crap if you don't have coaches with the skills the pay the bills.

How many Top 25 classes have Charlie Weis and Steve Spurrier supposedly had the past 3 or 4 years? Or, how about Tommy Bowden, for that matter, he consitently had top 10 and top 15 classes and could not even sniff an ACC Championship at Clemson.

Answer me this: which is more worthless, preseason rankings or signing day rankings?

I'd say signing day rankings because at least the preseason rankings are largely based on which upper echelon teams have the most established talent coming back for the next season and how their schedules look. The signing day rankings are largely based on assumptions that these kids are going to improve and still be elite athletes at the next level.

Exactly.

And I am sure a careful study of both would show how trivial and meaningless they all are when placed in context at the end of the season or at the end of an athlete's collegiate career.

"Journalists" need something to do all day long.

Right?
