Post Huge Three-Way Trade

Surprised no one brought this up. A huge deal went down yesterday, namely with Glen Rice involved. I think the Knicks did wonders in improving with this. They needed to change some things to improve. They let go off a high-priced, low-performing, and aging former all-star in Rice and they gained young PG backup Howard Eisley and young swingman Shandon Anderson. Great moves, I must say, even though I hate the Knicks! Thoughts on this?

Story from good, ol' Sportsline:
Quote:
Knicks send Rice to Houston in three-team trade with Mavs

NEW YORK -- For the third time in 29 months, Glen Rice has been traded. This time, he's going to a place where he won't be a second fiddle, a third option or a sixth man.

The Houston Rockets acquired the three-time All-Star from the New York Knicks on Friday in a three-team trade. Howard Eisley goes from Dallas to New York, Shandon Anderson goes from the Rockets to the Knicks and Muggsy Bogues was sent from New York to Dallas.

I think the Rockets got the better part of the deal. Glenn Rice is a great player.

Great deal for the Rockets, however, as a Mavs fan, I'm looking at this from their standpoint. Howard Eisley for Muggsy Bogues. I guess these two are basically the same player, but I'd rather have Eisley.

I agree, Ross. Bogues is 5'3" and what, 35? Not a good deal.

Default That article is ..... bad

(Unless I misunderstood where the guy was coming from ...)

"This time, he's going to a place where he won't be a second fiddle, a third option or a sixth man."

I'm hoping that the person who wrote this recognizes that Rice willl be at MOST a second or even third option with a team that has both Steve Francis and Eddie Griffin. This trade greatly improves the Rockets, the Mavs and the Knicks, I believe. Rice never had a place on the Knicks. He may find another home in Houston (or heck, he may be traded again in a couple months). I'd also rather have Howard Eisley over Muggsy Bogues.

Story snatched from Sportsline:
Quote:
Rockets OK deal, will receive future considerations for

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets agreed to take forward Glen Rice from the New York Knicks on Friday in a three-team trade that was delayed for a week.

The deal, also involving the Dallas Mavericks, had been held up while the Rockets reviewed Rice's medical records. To complete the trade, Houston will receive unspecified future considerations from both Dallas and New York.

Rice "is a Houston Rocket now and we are very happy to make that statement," general manager Carroll Dawson said. "From last week, everyone understands how happy we are to get him and to get this finalized now is a big thrill."

The Rockets had until noon Friday to complete the deal, which was expected to get league approval.

On Aug. 11, the Rockets sent Shandon Anderson to the Knicks for Rice. Howard Eisley moved from Dallas to New York, and Muggsy Bogues went from New York to Dallas.
Good deal... glad this deal is finally done. I say Houston and the Knicks got the best of the deal.
