This week the Houston Aeros are promising they're fans for "guaranteed fight night" meaning you will be guaranteed to see at least one fight or you'll get a refund AND get free tickets to the next home game. What a shame this is how hockey is marketed in the states that they have to do crap like this. Fighting should not be involved in hockey, It's stupid and pointless and I've never been a fan of it. What a stupid promotion.

Amen, this is cheap. Traditionalists will argue fighting belongs, and I won't touch that, but I think guaranteeing fights is like predicting the outcome of a game. If they happen, they happen, you can't force them just for the fans. This is not the way to win more fans.

And ya wonder why Americans think hockey is a joke...

Hockey IS a part of a game but it happens out of emotion and out of respect for your fellow teammates, and it should not be promoted... especially since it's the AHL, right? ... and AHL is geared to the younger crowd; it's a family event and we don't need to see more fighting in Bantam, PeeWee, and Novice... I've reffed those Novice kids -- they want to by like Tie Domi. We don't need the AHL guys acting like that Dummy also.

On my high school's hockey team, if you get into a fight, you're suspended for a few games.

Ya -- I think fighting is bounds for suspension in every high school so if you do that on a school trip (ie: at a hockey game), you're suspended also.

Well, anyway -- the Aeros changed it to "No-Fight Night" and now everyone gets a fee ticket if there is NOT a fight
