Default Boston vs St. Louis -- World Series

Here we go, folks. For all the marbles. Will it be the Sox or the Cards?
I like the Sox in 6 games.

Well, I have to back my team and say Cards in seven. The Sox are a very dangerous home team and are on a roll right now.

I know you guys aren't going to believe it, but I was going to predict Red Sox vs Cardinals in the WS before the playoffs started. I just didn't want to jinx it

I really don't know who will win, but I'm glad and happy for the two teams in it.

I think the Cardinals are better, but it just seems like this is the year for the Red Sox. Sox in 6.

I'm not convinced Boston can overcome the mental block of the ridiculous "curse" BS. They're not consistently firing on all cylindors & I'm thinking the "monkey on their back" will feel like a gorilla as the series takes shape. Internal pressure, not Card pressure will do them in....

Cards in 6....

It's all about who pitches better. I'm throwing in with Wake and Schill at 70%, Pedro and renewed Lowe and Foulke over what the Cards bring to town.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking that there ISN'T a lot of pressure on the Sox in this series, mainly because they just got through beating the Yankees, their major nemisis, in unbelievable fashion. They just put to rest a lot of demons. I think , even if they go on to lose this series, that the comeback from 0-3 will be remembered for a while. The Red Sox should be pretty loose going into this series, I believe.

I agree that they can't possibly get down early in this series and expect another miracle. Those 0-3 deficit comebacks come around only every....well, never, except this year. They have to win this one from the get-go. The Cardinals are an explosively offensive team, so that has to be a concern.

Red Sox fans don't deserve a World Series win. Living in CT, I've ben talking to a lot of Sox fans recently and they also seem overjoyed to have beaten the Yankees but say that winning that series was the bigger deal to them, the World Series doesn't matter as much. Isn't the ultimate goal to win the World Series even if you just embarassed your hated rival?

I don't understand the joy of winning an LCS. Heck, even after some LDS series, teams were jumping with joy and drinking champagne!! It makes NO SENSE to me. Hockey players don't even TOUCH the league championship trophies and are hesitant to even have their pictures with it.

Go for the REAL thing.

You know I have heard this topic of Sox fans are happy that they beat the Yanks and don't care whether they win the Series or not. I think that is a load of crap. To me, if you are a true Sox fan you want that World Series more than anything else now. And, as a lot of Yankees fans and SportsTalk hosts point out the 'curse' is not over until you win a World Series. I don't get it the whole 'curse' is that the Sox have not won a WS since 1918. If they truly want to shut Yankees fans up for a year they need that Series win, otherwise there is still 1918.

I think both teams are very evenly matched as far as pitching and hitting goes. The Cards get a slight edge in terms of defense and fundamental play. But, the biggest difference may come down to whether or not the Sox are gassed from the Yankees series. The Sox poured everything they had emotionally into getting over the hump of beating the Yanks. Will they have enough left in the tank to get past STL?
