Default Ochocinco Plus T.O. Equals ...?

Guess we'll find out, now that T.O. has signed with the Bengals:

I guess that means Antonio Bryant is not working out as well as they hoped.

But what about their running game?

Isn't Cedric Benson staring down the barrel of a "personal conduct" suspension?

And as for the rest of their depth chart at RB, it's like Gertrude Stein said: There isn't any "there" there.

Yeah, you are right on Benson he has still not found out whether he will be suspended or not or even how long he will potentially be out for. I can't imagine it would be much more than two or three games if he does get nicked though.

No, they do not have a lot of proven veteran depth at RB, but it is also the easiest position in the league to fill.

Bernard Scott did run for 206 on 39 carries in the two games Benson missed with injury last year, although it was against the Raiders and Browns.

They open with the Pats, Ravens, Panthers, and Browns so they probably would not miss Benson too terribly much. Chances are they are going to look to be throwing quite a bit against the Pats and Ravens given the Pats secondary and pass rush is nothing special and Ed Reed's status for the start of the season is up in the air.

Benson will likely not be suspended from the reports I've read.

As for TO, it is a perfect fit. Can you imagine the match-up problems this presents for a defense?

Bengals line-up 3 wide with Bryant in the slot. Who are you going to double? Ok, so you drop back into nickel coverage... Benson gashes you for 7 yards.

With the 4th ranked defense in the league last year, the addition of TO makes the Bengals the easy favorite in the AFC North.

This certainly makes the Bengals's offense the best in the division, and their defense is at least as good as the Ravens.

To be honest I don't see Bryant playing much this season, the primary reason the Bengals even went after Owens was because Bryant has been less than impressive in the OTAs this spring. If they were that interested in Bryant and Owens as compliments to Ocho then they would have signed them both two months ago when they brought them both in for workouts and interviews.

There is also a lot of speculation the knee that gave Bryant so much trouble last season has been flaring up on him and he is in worse shape than the Bengals are letting on.

Besides that I think the Bengals are really looking at Jordan Shipley to be their slot receiver this season.

You could be correct Doub. Either way, the match-up problems will be there.

And don't forget, first round pick Jermain Gresham will be at TE. He could be a huge threat.

Okay so Jordan Shipley is there slot, still Ocho Uno or Ocho Cinco? Who you gonna cover Doub? The only team that can play both straight up, probably, is the Jets. You throw in a healthy Carson Palmer, a running game headed by the resurrgent Cedric Benson and one of the best defenses in the entire league when healthy.

I'll answer your question, Chad + T.O. in Cincy equals Championship.

Owens was quiet in Buffalo last season, they were losing and he sucked, how much noise is he going to make this season with Marv Lewis and Carson Palmer around him on a championship contender where he is open downfield every play?

Look the Bengals as stated when I joined here, my 2nd favorite team in the league, and my favorite in the AFC, I want a Bengals Saints Superbowl, and the Bengals have a real shot.

Guess they ain't the Bunguls anymore eh?

That's pretty hubristic - considering that we're talking about a team that hasn't even so much as put back-to-back winning non-strike-shortened seasons together in 33 years!

And in spite of everything - even Cincinnati's 6-0 record within the division last year - the Ravens are really the defending division champions, because they were its last team standing in the playoffs - and the NFL more-or-less officially agrees, since the Ravens drafted behind the Bengals as a result, under the new draft-order rules that went into effect starting with the 2010 draft.

Don't forget, while Owens overall numbers were down last year, he still averaged over 15 yards per reception. That was playing for the BILLS, with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB...

The guy still has it.

Yeah, but the Bengals beat the Ravens twice, in one year, and have the word "champion" behind their 2009 season.

So?

In 1980, the Packers - who finished last in the then-NFC Central - swept the Vikings, who won the division that year.

The key to the AFC North in 2010 is U.P.O. - Until Proven Otherwise: Until the Bengals actually prove that they can have two solid years in a row, you have to assume that they can't.

Plus the 2010 Ravens bear an almost cosmic resemblance to the 2004 Eagles, who probably would have gone 15-1 if the team with the better record was accorded the home-field advantage in the Super Bowl.

I thought we had already been through this Anthony. Until Proven Otherwise, nobody in the division can beat the Bengals, until proven otherwise the Bengals will sweep the division and win it again...do you see how dumb this U.P.O. shit is?

This years team has nothing to do with those teams from the last 33 years in any way, shape or form. Just like it has nothing to do with last years team. Teams have gone from first to worst and back again in the blink of an eye.

The Bengals simply have the most prolific offense on paper in the AFC...and it rivals that of the New Orleans Saints (yes...the Saints have the most prolific offense in the NFL) They have a QB who has thrown PLENTY of three hundred yard games. They have three recievers who could easily have 1000 yard seasons (much like the recieving corps in Arizona when they went to the super bowl versus Pitt) they have a Running Back who has proved he is probably one of the top three backs in the league. Behind only Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson.

They have one of the top defenses in the league.

Find me a fault Anthony, prove to me why the Bengals don't have a shot at the championship. I don't want facts from the past 33 years, NOBODY CARES half the players on this team were not born 33 years ago.

The Ravens have a defense, and HOPE, they HOPE that Joe Flacco is as good as they think he is, they HOPE that Anquan Boldin can put up the same numbers he did in Arizona (problem is Joe Flacco is NOT Kurt Warner) they hope that Ed Reed will be playing.

The Bengals know. They know their defense is AMAZING, they know their Quarterback can win football games, they know Cedric the Entertainer can make plays and run down the clock, they know opposing defenses will have matchup problems all year, they know opposing offense won't score.

Bengals win the division, and the AFC easily, they play the Saints in the Superbowl. Weather they win or not remains to be seen, but I think they could easily win the championship.

You heard it here first.

13 - 3 (Bengals Record)

This is really pretty funny. You honestly believe that T. O. and the other guys they added this off season are going to be good for 12 points this year? Sorry, Owens is still a solid receiver but he is not an elite receiver any more.

You really believe the Bengals offense is going to score more points than Indy and New England?

Seriously, Cedric Benson is not the third best back in the league. Steven Jackson, Thomas Jones, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Ray Rice are all easily better backs than Benson is.

You honestly think T.O. and Ochocinco and Antonio Bryant aren't going to be one of the best if not the best Recieving Corps in the league this year?

T.O. was playing last year in Buffalo's name which crappy QB we are going to throw out there this year to throw you the pigskin offense. No wonder his rates dropped, I don't even know who the QB was last year, the only Buffalo QB I know the name of is JP Losman, hes playing in the UFL.

I love stats, and so we will go to stats.

Ochocinco: 72 Receptions, 1047 Yards, 14.5 YPR, 9 TD's
T.O. (in Buffalo): 55 Receptions, 829 Yards, 15.1 YPR, 5 TD's
Antonio Bryant (in Tampa Bay) (in 13 Games): 39 Receptions, 600 Yards, 15.4 YPR, 4 TD's
Plus the Rookie Jordan Shipley who I think is going to be a better reciever than a lot of people will give him credit for.

Okay thats 2476 Yards, and 18 TD's. I would venture to guess you all think that Carson Palmer is a better reciever than whoever was in Buffalo and the rookie in Tampa Bay. Right? Okay.

Now your wondering why I quoted reception numbers. Let's take Carson Palmer's 282 Completions last year shall we?
Subtract Ocho's 72 Receptions, that leaves 210 catches for the rest of the recieving corps. Now T.O. didn't complain at all in Buffalo last year he had 55 catches, let's subtract that number. That leaves 155 Receptions. If Antonio Bryant plays a whole season and gets let's say 50 Receptions to keep him happy. 105 Catches left.

Here's the point I am trying to make, everyone says it's not going to work because those three won't be able to work together....not enough catches to go around. They could all get their exact numbers from last year, or even more receptions, hell they could all get 70+ receptions this year and their would still be 20 or 30 catches left for Jordan Shipley. That's assuming Carson only throws as much as last year, what if he throws more like he did in 2007 when he had 343 completions? So kill the TO MUCH EGO rumors.

That gives Cedric the Entertainer the same amount of carries as last year if Carson throws just as much. That is 1252 more yards and 6 more TDs.

Please explain Doublee why is this not the most prolific offense in the NFL? The funny thing is TO and AB and Ocho could easily have MORE YPR more TD's and MORE RECEPTIONS....tell me Doub, because you have failed to do this yet, when TO, Ocho and Bryant are on the field, who do you cover? How do you cover them? and how do you stop all three? If they line up four wide with Jordan Shipley same thing, who you gonna cover? Tell me how you stop 2 of them let alone 3 or 4?

This is scary. Now you can't stack 8 in the box and double cover Chad like you could last year, Cedric is going to get more open, and he is going to get more yards, and more TD's.

Thank you.

Yes, easily. I believe they will score more than anyone in the NFL except the Saints. They have more threats and more talent than anyone in the league on offense. (sorry Peyton, sorry Tom). Most teams have a couple threats. They have threats all over the field.

Quote:

I believe I said he could be one of the top three backs in the league. I will wait until the end of the year, when he doesn't have to face 8 in the box every down, and we will see how many yards and TD's he has. Plus he simply doesn't turn over the ball, one fumble last year, no fumbles lost.
